GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Engineer III designs, plans, and executes R&D initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, plan, and execute various project activities supporting Process Engineering
Design, plan, and execute pilot equipment trials while capturing, recording, and interpreting data
Support R&D projects that deliver business results through data-driven decision making
Understand process capability and design selection criteria for developed products
Execute data analysis and interpretation in support of project and product problem solving
Support the process development and validation, specification implementation, and work instruction creation of new product designs and processes
Interact with external vendors as an R&D point of contact
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Bachelor's degree from four or 5-year college or university in Engineering (civil, mechanical, chemical, materials, or environmental disciplines)
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Four to seven years related experience and/or training preferably in construction management or manufacturing.
TRAVEL REQUIRED: Approximately 25% domestic travel.
WORK LOCATION: Hybrid work location.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Incumbent must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, talk, hear, and lift up to 50 lbs.

You will learn the theory and practical skills to:
Manufacture metallic components using our three-axis mill and lathe to enable rapid set up of experiments in the laboratory.
Set up experiments and perform component-level testing of items such as suspension members or pedals, then analyse the data to ensure that the requirements of the test have been met.
By the conclusion of your apprenticeship, be able to take specific ownership of the testing of components of the car (as examples – this could be suspension parts, transmission components, wing deflection tests etc.).
Key Skills to be Developed:
Interpreting technical drawings to British Standard 8888, including a detailed understanding of geometric tolerancing.
The use of CNC and manual machine tools for milling and turning of fixturing to be used for the setup of tests within the laboratory.
Theory and operation of Instron universal testing machines for static and fatigue testing of car components.
The application of sensors and instrumentation to ensure that we acquire high quality data during our experiments.
Data analysis to enable the correct interpretation of information from our data acquisition / telemetry systems.
Knowledge of the design and installation of components within the car that you are testing, which will include working closely with the relevant designer(s).
Appreciation of the other areas of factory-based testing, including supporting the needs within both our Dyno and Materials Lab at critical points of the year.

Maintain machinery and equipment and find and resolve faults to optimise production levels
Conduct planned and predictive maintenance to prevent issues from occurring, as well as reactive maintenance, responding to breakdowns
Contribute to the installation and decommissioning of equipment
Work as part of a team or alone, depending on the task
On a daily basis, you will interact with other technicians and engineers, as well as with operational and site teams, and colleagues from Technical, Development, Finance & Planning
You will get involved in technical performance reviews and continuous improvement activities
You will learn how to employ engineering practices that ensure food safety in line with food safety legislation, keeping machinery and equipment running to meet production needs and outputs
You will ensure that our practices comply with food safety, health and safety, environmental, sustainability, and engineering regulations and standards, as well as taking account business operation considerations such as cost and service level agreements
Training:
Food and Drink Maintenance Engineer Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard which includes a Diploma in food and drink engineering maintenance.
Functional Skills in maths and English, if required
This is a 3 x 6-week training block every academic year. Accommodation, food and travel are paid for by the company. Everyone gets individual secure accommodation, and safeguarding measures are in place.Training Outcome:
An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry-specific competence
Potential for full-time employment on successful completion of the apprenticeship
Transferable skills that are invaluable in the wider world of work
