About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a temporary Chef/Cook to support a care setting within an FSA-regulated environment. This role involves preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for residents while maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards.

Main duties and responsibilities:

When will you work?
Dates:
The PNE Fair runs from August 22 – September 7. Training will be scheduled throughout the two weeks leading up to the Fair in August. Timing will vary based on your department and position.
Hours:
The PNE Fair is open from 11AM – 11PM – with a variety of shifts available from 8AM – MIDNIGHT.

As our new apprentice you will focus on creating, testing and improving new food products for large-scale production. Unlike a traditional chef, who prepares and serves dishes in a kitchen, a Development Chef works on recipe innovation, product consistency and emerging consumer trends.
You will receive full training, mentoring and support throughout your apprenticeship.
Your main duties will include:
Assisting the New Product Development team in developing commercially viable products for our customers

You’ll complete master class sessions to learn to cook and prepare a wide range of different dishes, including seafood, offal, game, meat and fish
A dedicated Vocational Trainer will also visit you at work, on average once every4-6 weeks, to establish a personal learning and development plan, outlining a schedule of training activities and objectives
You will complete a mixture of on and off the job training, including workshops, face to face training and working towards creating a portfolio of relevant practical evidence
You’ll also be supported by Development Chefs and your colleagues at all times, and will be mentored and trained constantly
This type of practical learning is a great way to train, and you’ll learn a huge amount in a short time

Adventurers Day Nursery is purpose built, detached building, with large car parking facilities, situated within easy walking distance of the city of York centre and Fulford. Here at Adventurers Day Nursery we are a friendly and dedicated team. At Mitchells and Butlers you will be working towards a Production Chef Level 2 Apprenticeship standard over the course of 15 months.
You'll take on a full-time role in the kitchen under the supervision of passionate chefs alongside your training. Not only do you gain a nationally recognised qualification, you will be able to support the running of our kitchens, creating some amazing moments making sure that quality never slips for our guests!
What your apprenticeship includes:
You won't need to attend college, our apprenticeships are delivered through work based training which includes a mixture of face-to-face sessions and remote Team calls with your Lifetime Learner Coach every 6 weeks. You will also have a mentor within the workplace to support you.
Obtain Functional Skills in English and maths (if you don't already have GCSE or equivalents)
Reviews every 12 weeks with the Apprentice, Line Manager and Lifetime Learner Coach including feedback sessions.
