Due to successful growth plans, a Medical Devices organization based in Cambridge is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the development and improvement of life-saving Medical Devices.
Collaborating closely with other industry experts, such as electronics design engineers, software engineers, physicists, and other Medical Devices specialists, you will tackle some of the most complex challenges in the development of new Medical Technologies.
Ideally, you will have a background in developing new Medical Devices throughout the entire design life cycle, adhering to ISO 13485 standards. GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Engineer provides engineering support for R&D initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Execute various project activities supporting Process Engineering• Support R&D projects that deliver business results through data-driven decision making• Work within the R&D team to support new product and process development projects• Maintain proper documentation of technical and experimental activities• Execute experiments to evaluate and optimize the performance attributes of various technologies• Execute pilot equipment trials while capturing and recording data• Support the process development and validation, specification implementation, and work instruction creation of new product designs and processes• Assist with the exploration and research of new technologies in relevant processes for future applications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related discipline.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
No formal experience requirement.
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
3D and 2D CAD Finite Element Analysis (FEA)- Preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Incumbent must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, kneel, talk, hear, lift up to 50 lbs., and wear required personal protective equipment as required.

Analysing existing workflows and production methods to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and quality, both in automated and manual systems
Selecting, installing, and maintaining manufacturing equipment, ensuring it meets production needs
Identifying and resolving production issues, including equipment malfunctions and process inefficiencies
Overseeing projects related to manufacturing improvements, managing budgets, and coordinating teams of engineers and technicians
Ensuring that products and processes meet quality standards and comply with relevant regulations
Working with various teams, including designers, suppliers, and production staff, to ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing operations
Collecting and analysing data from production processes to identify trends and areas for improvement

Training:
Apprentices will undertake a Level 6 Manufacturing Engineer Degree Apprenticeship. The training will be delivered by University of Staffordshire
