My client is a leading PI Law firm and they are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Housing Disrepair Fee Earner to join the team. As a Housing Disrepair Fee Earner, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of housing disrepair claims from inception through to completion. You will work closely with clients to assess the extent of disrepair in their properties, negotiate settlements with landlords or housing authorities, and provide expert legal advice and representation where necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of housing disrepair claims, ensuring timely progression and resolution.
- Conduct thorough investigations into housing disrepair issues, including property inspections and gathering of evidence.
- Liaise with clients to understand their needs and objectives and provide clear and concise legal advice.

Job Description Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in Somerset for a Finance Officer to join their Education and Inclusion Finance team on a temporary basis. The postholder will support with forecasting and management of budgets for a range of cost centres within Education and Inclusion Services and allocate High Needs Top Up Funding for Children & Young People across a range of different types of education providers (Early Years, Mainstream, Special, FE, Independent etc). They will also assist with the day-to-day payments process for High Needs, balancing budgets, forecasting and reporting to SEND operational managers on a monthly basis and will support with school academisation payments, final settlements and assist with recording various financial returns from schools.
Candidate Criteria
CCAB/CIMA Qualified or Part-Qualified with extensive experience
Experience within Local Authority Finance, specifically within Education/Inclusion is highly desirable
Experience of financial/budget monitoring within a large scale organisation
Experience of transactional finance work, including payments processing and funding allocation
Great communication skills with the ability to work well on own initiative as well as part of a team

Our Client, a leading commercial law firm in the heart of Newcastle, are looking to recruit a Serious Injury Solicitor to join their leading claimant personal injury team. The role would suit a Serious Injury Solicitor with upwards of 2 years’ PQE handling brain and spinal injury claims ideally within a claimant environment, though candidates with only defendant serious injury experience are still encouraged to apply.
The team are responsible for handling serious injury cases, valued up to £5million and above, to include brain and spinal injuries and CICA claims. The successful candidate will handle their own caseload of high value multi track cases, dealing with cases from the point of instruction through to trial and/ or settlement. Responsibilities include:
Reviewing medical records and evidence and providing expert legal advice to clients.
Corresponding with clients, defendants Solicitors and third parties.
Issuing proceedings, drafting applications, court documentation, witness statements and responses.
Instructing counsel and collating evidence.
Negotiating settlements and achieving the best possible outcome for clients.
Requirements:
Upwards of 2 years PQE gained in serious injuries, ideally claimant though defendant Solicitors will also be considered.
The ability to deal with complex cases and vulnerable clients.
A confident litigator, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.

As a third-party representative, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient management of legal costs. Your responsibilities will encompass preparing bills of costs, schedules of costs, budgets, and replies, as well as engaging in negotiations with opposing parties. Collaborating closely with our fee earners, you will contribute to the timely and effective recovery of costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clients with accurate estimations of potential costs associated with legal proceedings before cases commence.
- Create detailed and precise bills of costs, outlining all expenses incurred during legal matters. This includes professional fees, disbursements, and other relevant costs.
- Assist in costs budgeting, helping set and manage expected litigation costs as part of the case management process.
Engage in negotiations with opposing parties or their representatives to resolve disputes over costs and reach settlements. - Support the assessment of legal costs when disputes arise, often appearing before a Costs Judge or Costs Officer in court.
- Attend detailed assessment hearings to present compelling arguments for your clients costs and address any contentious points.
- In the context of legal aid, prepare claims for legal aid costs and represent clients during legal aid assessments.
Requirements
- Ideally, a minimum of 3 years experience as a costs draftsperson.
- Good understanding of CPR (Civil Procedure Rules), case law, and costs practice directions.
