Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Maintenance Technician
As the Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out maintenance and repair work across the site. Your primary objective will be to ensure that the plant and equipment are maintained to the highest standards to support the safe and efficient running of operations.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities Include:
Raising relevant work permit requests and ensuring safe systems of work are followed for all tasks.
Identifying and rectifying failures in service and equipment defects specific to mechanical systems.
Completing scheduled maintenance as per the company’s maintenance plan to ensure smooth production operations.
Developing, reviewing, and improving maintenance procedures to ensure tasks are executed with minimal disruption to production and maximised plant availability.
Actively contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that focus on improving safety, environmental performance, equipment availability, and overall efficiency.
Taking on additional duties as required, in line with the responsibility, skill, and experience expected for the position.
Essential Criteria for the Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Mechanical Qualifications: Apprenticeship level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
Strong experience in Mechanical Fitting and hands-on maintenance of industrial equipment.
Previous experience working on a COMAH Site (Control of Major Accident Hazards).
Relevant industry experience in Chemical, Petrochemical, or Oil & Gas sectors.
Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently.
Competence with basic computer systems, including experience with work allocation and providing feedback on maintenance tasks.

Training is delivered in the workplace and on block release at the Remit Academy in Derby. Accountabilities:
As this role is an apprenticeship role, training will be provided to enable the postholder to perform the duties of an IT Technician.
Provide a rapid and friendly first and second line response to IT problems encountered.
Work relating to updating and patching, data backup and retrieval and other areas.
Work with the head IT Technician to ensure that all IT-related documentation is kept up to date, e.g. asset management/inventory systems and IT documentation.
Support the continued training of our employees through effective use of IT and our Line of Business Software.
Ensure that Health and Safety and Employee policies are always applied, including the Information Security, Data Protection and Acceptable Use policies.
Required to ensure that they maintain their own health and safety, and support that of any colleagues, service users or visitors in their environment in accordance with organisational policies and procedures and the training they receive.
Problem-Solving/Creative Effort:
You will be responsible for providing friendly and effective first and second-line support. This will involve problem-solving and solution-finding. Additionally, you will be expected to deliver against agreed tasks and targets set out.
Training:An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
ICT (Information Communications Technician) level 3 apprenticeship standard

Your training will include gaining a level 3 IT qualification
