Manufacturing Engineer
I'm on the lookout for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a highly reputable and long established company within the Yeovil area. The role of the Manufacturing Engineer is to implement new and improve existing production lines and processes in order to maximise efficiency's. You will be tasked to design, setup and develop these processes utilising lean principles to optimise productivity.
The client is owned by a globally recognised powerhouse, collectively they employ over 100,000 globally. As the Manufacturing Engineer there will be plenty of opportunities to learn and grow within the business too.
Manufacturing Engineer Role:
- To assist the Technician team in determining the correct TPM activities and schedules.
- To design, setup and develop production lines / processes utilising lean principles to optimise cell productivity.
- Review existing production Cells and implement changes to improve labour utilisation.
- Provide solutions / improvements to address HSE issues
- Provide support to the manufacturing Cells and drive continuous improvement through RCA.
- Provide technical / Process support to Engineering Technicians in support of RCA.
- To ensure that all new or modified processes, equipment and materials are introduced and used in accordance with UK Health and Safety regulations and Company Procedures.
- Ensuring timely completion of Kaizen ideas
- Be a key driver in our safety first culture
The successful Manufacturing Engineer:
- Ideally Degree Educated and/or Time served apprenticeship in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in Manufacturing Engineering related support or suitable discipline.
- Proven Experience in managing projects is essential.
- Six Sigma Green Belt qualification (or practical application) is desirable.
- Hands on practical Engineering skills
- Demonstrable RCA problem solving skills.

Process & Planning Development - Identifies necessary tooling, gauging and inspection frequencies or criteria on the planning when creating. Promoting the generation of tooling, set ups sheets or standard operating procedures to support manufacture
Engineering related changes - Notifies quality department when any new or changes to drawings or planning's are instigated, or when a planning is copied for use on another similar job (especially if planning identifies any inspection sheets & requirements)
Special Projects - Take full ownership of special process (assigning teams/people to support, generation and management of all associated files and documents), providing up to date status at all times

Opsketches - Generates any necessary Opsk's to support manufacturing process and for treatment requirements (or seeks support of design engineer and the use of the solid works models to create required documents)
NCM Support - Supports their associated sections NCM process (identification of route cause, along with corrective, preventive action ownership)

The Production Engineer, based in Kent will report into the Operations Manager and will be responsible for coordinating production engineering processes from the final design phase to full production release. Other responsibilities will include:
-Responsibility for managing the standards, methods and procedures for the design, modification, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment (Jigs / Fixtures / Tooling) and processes.
-Developing and delivering production plans, build documentation and route cards for a variety of engineering projects from final design and into series production.
-Contributing to the development of the Operations Department strategy.

The Test Development Engineer will be an experienced hands-on individual who has sound test knowledge and capability with a background in defence, aviation, aerospace, or military would be ideal.
Responsibilities for the Test Development Engineer:
- Conduct Valve Development testing under the supervision and mentoring of R&D technicians, design engineers and the Engineering Manager, applying sound engineering practices in a timeframe consistent with business objectives.
- Design qualification test parameters for the validation of new products in accordance with project objectives and milestones.
- Apply relevant engineering standards, legislation, certification, and customer compliance ensuring comprehensive validation and reporting is delivered.

Experience required for the Test Development Engineer:
- Mechanical Engineering Degree, Diploma, or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Demonstrable key skills in and knowledge around materials, stress analysis, and practical mechanical assembly.
- Practical skills and good working knowledge of precision manufacturing, CNC lathes, milling, and general Fabrication.
- Experience or knowledge of engineering software, 2D and 3D CAD, FEA, CFD, Mathcad, and MS Office, preferably using Autodesk platforms (AutoCAD, Inventor, ANSYS).
- Professional and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
