An Assistant Branch Manager / Branch Supervisor with a hands-on mentality is required for the flagship branch of a family-run distributor supplying automotive, industrial, marine and leisure markets across the Southwest.
The Assistant Branch Manager / Branch Supervisor will support the Branch Manager in the day-to-day management of an established and experienced team of around 15, covering sales and distribution.
We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with an electrical wholesale, electrical distribution, automotive parts distribution, industrial distribution, engineering supplies or builder’s merchants background, although this is by no means essential.

The Candidate
Previous supervisor / team leader experience is required, ideally in a distribution or wholesale environment. We are also open to candidates ready to make that step into an Assistant Branch Manager role.
Hands on sales experience and the ability to develop business relationships.
An understanding of branch operations.
A technical aptitude with the ability and willingness to learn, retain and relay product information.
Our ideal candidate may have experience of working within an electrical, industrial or Engineering wholesale environment or have an automotive parts distribution / motor factor background.
The Role
Demonstrate a hands-on approach providing support and assistance across all areas of the branch.
Support the Branch Manager (and deputise in their absence) across the following areas:
Provide training, coaching development and motivation to the team.
Be aware of and assess local market conditions and identify current and prospective sales opportunities.
Direct all operational aspects including distribution operations.
Liaise with buying and distribution teams at head office to ensure correct inventory levels are maintained.
Manage branch health and safety requirements in line with HSE legislation and company health and safety policies.
Work with the management team to achieve branch targets.
Locate areas of improvement and propose corrective actions to leverage growth opportunities.

The Distribution Clerk is responsiblefor ensuring that all shipping and receiving documents are completed accurately and in a timely fashion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure orders and shipping quantities match picking documents through careful audit of said documents. Work with Plant Operations, Customer Service and Purchasing to resolve allocation discrepancies. Help with or complete special projects at the discretion of the Distribution Services Manager. Ensure good security processes are followed with regard to the CTPAT (driver and visitor sign in). Answer/route all telephone calls in a polite manner, taking messages and routing to proper individual in a timely manner. Assists & evaluates needs with shipping points, services, weights & freight permits, and other information needed. Initiates, answers & documents tracer inquiries when requested via email and/or fax. Maintains shipping stations are in working order and stock with materials. Notifies consignee of shipment arrival and coordinates shipment information to other offices and/or agents. Arranges for movement of freight to consignee/agent & updates the system with information. Route Shuttle Drivers to maximize the efficiency of moving the Production stock to the DC. Processes necessary invoices to appropriate office for payment. Monitor the supply of packaging materials and requisition additional supplies as required. Confirm physical shipment of goods and facilitate tracking of packages. Identify errors on packing lists & invoices and correct them. In conjunction with senior supervisor will be responsible for all outbound freight to comply with warehouse operations. Using ERP System, prepare accurate bills of lading for outbound freight. Ensure that drivers depart with appropriate paperwork. Ensure the accuracy of all shipping documents by strict adherence to standard operating procedures. Gather, enter into warehouse management system and maintain all data and records relative to shipping and receiving activities. Complete necessary management reports as required. Responsible reporting Cycle Counts to Distribution Services Manager as required by identified Cycle Count Program. Act as back up to other functions as necessary.
