Carrying out of welding of items within the workshop in accordance with Kilnbridge welding procedures
Assist welders in setting up and preparing weld surfaces, equipment, and materials as needed
Cut and grind metal pieces to fit properly and remove any impurities
Clean and maintain welding equipment and tools daily
Move materials and equipment to job sites as directed by lead welders
Learn and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times while performing welding tasks
Collaborate with other team members to complete projects on time and to performance expectations
Attend mandatory safety meetings and training sessions
Be a team player, ensuring yourself and everyone around you are working safely and producing high quality work in a timely manner
Ensure that all instructions are carried out in a professional manner, in accordance with the Company policies, safe systems of work, factory production control and fabrication tolerance criteria
Ensure all equipment is maintained and kept in good working condition
Carry out morning checks on your work area and all equipment to ensure it is safe to begin work
Ensures that work areas are clean and orderly
Ensure that all measuring equipment is kept in calibration
Training:Welder Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard:
The apprenticeship will take place at our workshop with the apprentice attending Northampton College one day a week
The apprenticeship will last for 18 months
Training Outcome:
To progress from an apprentice to a fully qualified welder/ fabricator

This is a hands‑on role performing TIG welding. You will be involved in a wide range of bespoke fabrication projects, working with stainless steel and heavy steel components, including structural steel, beams, and girders. This role will suit someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their workmanship, and is comfortable taking ownership of work from start to finish.
The Role
In this position, you will be responsible for:
TIG welding of stainless steel components to a high standard
Fabrication and installation of heavy steel, including steel beams and girders
Reading and interpreting technical and fabrication drawings
Fabricating, assembling, and installing bespoke metalwork
Setting out and installing balustrades and architectural metalwork
Supporting steel erection and installation activities
Managing your own workload and supervising others when required
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Proven TIG welding experience, particularly with stainless steel
Heavy steel fabrication experience, including structural steel, beams, and girders
A strong background in metal fabrication and installation
Valid welding tickets
The ability to read and work accurately from drawings
A flexible and adaptable approach to work
Excellent attention to detail and pride in high‑quality workmanship
The ability to work independently and within a small team
A full, clean UK driving licence (essential for site‑based work)

Who are responsible for facility and production up time by performing building and equipment upkeep, repairs and maintenance. Also rocket test installations, modifications and commissioning, applying fixes to equipment or building and ensuring facilities are tidy and functional.
This is a challenging role that requires a skilled welder fabricator but also includes practical building maintenance such as carpentry, electric, HVAC, plumbing, compressor and boiler maintenance, site vehicle upkeep, etc. Building upkeep will include painting, minor repairs to doors, windows, roofing, drainage, etc.
Requirements
