We are recruiting for an experienced Indirect Tax Consultant to join our client, an investment bank in London, on a temporary basis until June 2027.
The role offers broad advisory responsibilities across a complex financial services environment, partnering with front office, finance, operations and external stakeholders on a wide variety of VAT and GST matters.
Skills/Experience:
Proven indirect tax experience, gained either in-house or within a Big Four or equivalent professional services environment.
Strong understanding of VAT principles, with financial services VAT experience considered advantageous.
Confident challenging technical positions and making well-reasoned decisions.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are desirable.
Core Responsibilities:
Review VAT returns and participate in VAT return review meetings, analysing and challenging data where appropriate.
Support responses to indirect tax audits by working with legal entity controllers, shared service teams and tax authorities.
Coordinate with external advisors across multiple jurisdictions to obtain commercially sound VAT advice.
Review commodities-related invoicing to ensure VAT compliance and contribute to system enhancement projects.
Provide day-to-day indirect tax advisory support to finance teams and business stakeholders.
Act as a key point of contact for shared service centres, reviewing reverse charge treatments and other VAT-related queries.
Assist with the development and enhancement of indirect tax processes and procedures.
Support VAT registrations, deregistrations and amendments across multiple jurisdictions.
Advise on a broad range of indirect tax issues affecting a global financial services business, from regulatory changes to new business initiatives.

This is to gain a Level 2 AAT qualification. This apprenticeship role is split 80/20 between working and earning with the employer gaining valuable hands-on skills, and learning & gaining qualifications with Solveway Apprenticeships.
You will attend remote learning sessions, one day a week for the duration of the apprenticeship. The role after training will include;
Process vendor and subcontractor invoices accurately and in line with approval and coding requirements.
Reconcile supplier statements to the ledger and resolve discrepancies with suppliers and internal stakeholders
Support the processing and review of staff expense claims and company credit card statements.
Assist with the preparation of weekly payment runs.

Provide cover for colleagues within the finance team during periods of absence and holiday.
Handle financial data accurately and confidentially and follow JSM’s financial controls and approval processes.

These include medical and surgical patients, trauma of varying severity, children, gynaecological emergencies, mental health problems and minor illness or injury.The department treats 19,000 patients per annum and acts as the single point of assessment for all acute hospital admissions and referrals from the islands of Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm, with demand increasing during the holiday season.There is a regular need to assess patients referred by GPs to the on call in-patient specialists from the MSG. These patients are sent to the ED for assessment, where the department functions like an MAU/SAU. The salary for this post is £109,663 to £147,439 dependant on experience in addition to an 8% on-call allowance and a CEA payment of between £8,871 to £17,742 per annum.This is a Consultant-led department; the MDT comprises Doctors, Nurses, Radiographers.
