Based at their site in Stoke-on-Trent, as a member of the Quality Assurance Team, you will be testing products, assessing function, performance and build quality within a Laboratory environment to ensure that the products are fit for market and meet the required standard for the brand.
This will involve; samples for assessment to include first samples, pre-shipment samples and stock samples tested and assessed following departmental procedures.
You will also be assessing returned products and establishing the reason for failure and will become familiar with UK & EU standards and legislation.
As a result, you will contribute towards the development of successful products by aiding the designers and engineers in the development stage through test reports, design input and root cause analysis of issues identified.
Ideally applicants will have previous experience of working in a test facility (either in-house or an external test house) or have hands-on experience of completing the QA testing procedure.

You will be training to undertake routine maintenance and fault finding on plant and equipment where you will use tools, test equipment and documentation to undertake these maintenance tasks
You may at times need to wear personal protective equipment, necessary for work in active areas (such as full PVC suiting, gloves and respirators) and work in confined spaces or at heights
As an integral part of your apprenticeship your progress will be monitored and assessed against the National Apprenticeship Standard requirements. You will compile an evidence folder, demonstrating your areas of learning with accredited certificates of completion for elements of your training
Within the last six months of your apprenticeship you will undertake a knowledge and skills assessment by an independently appointed organisation, where you will be expected to clearly demonstrate your ability to meet the apprenticeship
Training:Training will begin with our Local training provider usually for a minimum of 18 months learning and applying the relevant knowledge skills and behaviours required to be an electrical or mechanical engineer. You will then be assigned a site placement at Sellafield site which will be determined by business opportunity and align to the Training Programme.
You will obtain the following qualifications:
Level 3 ST0154 apprenticeship – Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician
Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
Level 2 Award for Nuclear Industry Awareness (ANIA)

Following successful completion of your apprenticeship, we will look to retain you in a professional full time position at Sellafield Ltd

You will split your time between college learning and working within our world-class manufacturing plant
You will work across departments such as Press Tooling, Injection Moulding Tooling and Bodyshop Tooling, giving you a good opportunity to learn different processes. What’s more, you’ll gain experience working with some of the most up-to-date manufacturing equipment in the industry
You’ll acquire the skills and knowledge to work as a member of the team maintaining the production tooling at Nissan, including CNC machining centres for milling, turning, and grinding and welding materials in all disciplines (MIG, TIG, ARC), with breakdown recovery and planned maintenance forming your key responsibilities
You will develop a sound understanding of engineering drawings and will use CAD / CAM software for design and reverse engineering
Your emerging skills will also support the development of the current and future line-up of Nissan’s vehicles, including new model launches and associated production processes
Training:Your first year will be at college.
