The below job description will outline this position of: Hydrographic Surveyor
Typically, this person will carry out a wide range of hydrographic surveying tasks, supporting both statutory and commercial activities. This includes undertaking safety of navigation surveys, supporting dredging and port development, and contributing to engineering, geophysical and geotechnical survey operations. The role will be part of a highly experienced and respected hydrographic team, working with advanced multibeam sonar systems, uncrewed surface vessels, GIS tools and aerial drone technology.

Duties and responsibilities of the Hydrographic Surveyor:
Undertake hydrographic survey operations, including planning, data acquisition, processing, and reporting
Support the production of nautical charting and survey deliverables
Assist in the delivery of dredging support and infrastructure survey projects
Operate a range of survey equipment including multibeam, side scan, and drones
Engage in commercial survey work and contribute to team training and knowledge-sharing initiatives
Qualifications and requirements for the Hydrographic Surveyor:
Degree in Hydrographic Surveying or related scientific/engineering discipline
Minimum of 5 years’ hydrographic survey experience (inshore/offshore)
Proficient in hydrographic systems, charting techniques and standards
Competent in MS Office and hydrographic software tools
Relevant marine or offshore qualifications (e.g. RYA Powerboat Level 2, Sea Survival, First Aid) desirable
Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently
Willingness to undertake paid overtime when operationally required

Provide clear and accurate technical support throughout all stages of construction.
As a Setting Out Engineer, You Will Have:
Proven experience in a setting out or site engineering role within the construction or industrial sectors.
Strong technical knowledge of setting out tools, techniques, and surveying.
A proactive attitude, with the ability to work under pressure and manage competing tasks.
Willingness to be site-based in Devon for the duration of the project.

Carry out quantity take-offs to support estimating, valuation, and cost control activities.
Assist in preparing monthly payment applications and commercial reports.
Support subcontractor procurement, including issuing enquiries and evaluating quotations.
Help administer subcontract accounts, including payments, change management, and record-keeping.
Contribute to the assessment and pricing of variations and compensation events.
Assist with contract administration and resolution of contractual matters and claims.
Attend site visits and meetings to understand project progress and MEP installation challenges.
Use industry-standard software to support measurement, analysis, and reporting tasks.
Training:The apprentice will undertake academic training on a day-release basis, attending in person at either Nottingham Trent University or Sheffield Hallam University, depending on course availability.Training Outcome:Once qualigfied you will progress to being a Project Quantity Surveyor, with a clear pathway to Senior QS, Commercial Manager, and Chartered MEP Surveyor status. We will support your progression to chartered staus via the RICS. Position Overview

Responsibilities

- Perform all types of air tests and 4-stage clearances following asbestos abatement works

- Ensure compliance with UKAS requirements, international standards, and national legislation related to asbestos
- Maintain and secure equipment, record data legibly, and manage samples appropriately
- Provide support to the Technical/Quality Manager

Your role and responsibilities:
Acquire hydrographic data using a full suite of instruments, including multibeam echosounders, GNSS, sound velocity profilers, USBL positioning, backscatter, sidescan sonar, seismic, sub-bottom profilers, and magnetometers.
Lead or support vessel mobilisations and demobilisations, ensuring all survey equipment is prepared and operational.
Carry out offshore survey operations, assist with back-deck tasks, and perform data coverage checks. Where necessary, develop infill line plans to maintain data quality and completeness.
Work closely with the full project team daily, including Project Managers, the data processing team, fellow surveyors, and clients, to ensure smooth project execution.
Report progress and technical updates directly to the Chief Surveyor, maintaining strong communication across all stages of the survey.
Working primarily offshore with rotations usually on a four week on, four week off basis.
