Investment Governance Manager
Job Description: We are looking for an Investment Governance Manager to join the team at a boutique financial services firm. The successful candidate will focus on managing client relationships, and the selection and oversight of suitable investment consultants and fiduciary managers. This is a great opportunity for an experienced candidate with strong investment knowledge and client relationship experience. This role is hybrid 2-3 days in the office, and is flexible on location (Edinburgh, London, Manchester, Bristol), and will involve travel to London if based elsewhere. Skills/Experience: Pension scheme and investment experience with seven to ten years’ experience. Proactive, self-starter with the ability to focus on the tactical implementation of that strategy for the firm. Ability to communicate effectively, strong relationship and presentation skills, good written skills, appropriate MS and data tool skills and emotionally intelligent. Ideally working towards or already qualified in IMC/CFA for example Ability to interpret investment data, performance metrics, and fee structures. Experience of conducting in-depth assessments of fiduciary managers and investment consultants would be beneficial Strong communication and interpersonal skills to deliver tailored advice and recommendations. Solid understanding of investment markets, fiduciary management, and defined benefit/contribution pension schemes. Competence in drafting clear, concise, and insightful research and oversight reports. Comfortable working with colleagues across levels to support analysis and client deliverables. Accuracy in data handling, report creation, and compliance with internal processes. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently. Staying informed on developments in the UK pension and investment industry. Awareness of and adherence to relevant regulatory and internal compliance frameworks. Core Responsibilities: Provide advice to clients on the selection and oversight of fiduciary managers and investment consultants. Support due diligence research on fiduciary management and investment advisory firms. Analyse fee structures and investment data related to these firms. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, new products, and developments in the UK DB and DC pension space. Attend industry conferences as needed. Contribute to the drafting and writing of research reports. Collaborate with associates to analyse performance data and prepare client oversight reports. Key Duties & Responsibilities - Proactively and efficiently run a caseload that will consist of OIC and MOJ RTA claims with the intention of maximising damagers for our client by considering and pursuing all relevant heads of loss. - To identify and flag vulnerable clients from the outset and flag any vulnerability on the system, accurately record why those vulnerabilities have required extra time, care, and attention when you speak to the client. - To obtain all relevant and necessary evidence (medical or otherwise) to establish liability and value quantum ensuring that you follow departmental practice of which agency to instruct. - To carry out due diligence of your clients at key stages in the case and ensure clients are fully warned about fraud and fundamental dishonesty at key stages using standard letters and processes in our system. - Instruct Counsel, attend conferences, Court hearings, JSMs etc, when necessary either in person or remotely - To ensure clear and unequivocal instructions are obtained from any relevant lay and/or Litigation Friend and/or insurance clients and that they are fully documented. - Achieve and exceed various targets set in relation to WIP, fee income, settlements, closure and issuing. - To ensure clients are kept informed and up to date on a regular basis throughout the life of the claim by proactive communication. - To ensure that correct retainers and rates are sent to the client, that costs estimates are updated annually, and retainer rates reviewed regularly. - To ensure that all evidence is closely scrutinised and stressed checked and cross referenced to all other evidence of both the Claimant and Defendant for inconsistencies. - Discuss liability and/or quantum offers with the relevant parties, making use of the telephone rather than letter whenever possible to build a stronger client rapport. - To assist with any internal projections or mentoring of staff that your manager or HOD deems appropriate for you to assist with. Experience & Knowledge - A Solicitor, ILEX qualified or file handler of substantial experience of running their own caseload within the personal injury field. - A proven track record of running your own successful caseload ideally within a claimant personal injury environment. - A good working knowledge of the CPR, relevant case law and legislation as well as experience of progressing claims in a timely manner in accordance with the CPR. - To understand the Intermediate Track Fixed Fee regime introduced in October 2023. - The ability to liaise and build up a rapport by using effective communication with all external agencies during the life of a claim including medical agencies, investigators, barristers etc. - Good IT skills with a sound working knowledge of VF or a similar case management system and essential MS Office knowledge. Main duties: Update and promote the Learning Centre and Learning Zone pages on the college app. Assist students in the use of the App. Provide an excellent customer experience for all learners and staff within the learning spaces. Paul loved hairdressing and loved learning, attending many courses and undertaking online education to hone and develop his skills. Once he had found his direction, he was unstoppable, initially working from home and then as a manager of a local salon. Paul's passion for colour, backed up by his technical ability made him the go to stylist in the salon for colour. he is ambitious and when the opportunity arose he bought the salon he was working in and the Paul Watts Salon Group was born. Paul has opened 6 salons over an 8 year period, which saw 4 operating at once and relocate 2 of them to much bigger premisses. This has been a complete game changer to the PWH group giving Paul much more time to develop his team and work more internationally, while keeping the quality of work at its highest.
