Support athletes in developing technical, tactical, physical, and psychological skills.
Contribute to monitoring athlete progress and maintaining accurate records.
Provide constructive feedback to individuals and groups to encourage continuous improvement.
Promote positive behaviour, teamwork, confidence, and resilience in participants.
Programme Support & Administration
Assist with session planning, risk assessments, equipment management, and venue preparation.
Contribute to programme evaluation, data reporting, and feedback collection.
Support marketing and operational tasks such as social media updates, newsletters, and event setup.
Professional Development
Attend training, workshops, and apprenticeship learning sessions as required.
Reflect on coaching practice and contribute to discussions with mentors and tutors.
Work towards completing the Level 4 Sports Coach Apprenticeship within the expected time frame.
Training:This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model, which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our Derb Road Campus (NG18). This attendance is required during term time only.
You will work with expert assessors and tutors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession.

Prepare, set up, and maintain sports equipment and resources for PE lessons, extracurricular activities, and sports events.
Assist PE staff during practical lessons, including supervising and supporting students as directed.
Ensure that all PE equipment is safe, clean, and stored correctly.
Monitor and maintain inventories of sports equipment and uniforms, including issuing and collecting as needed.
Assist in supporting the teacher with delivery of sessions where required.
Assist in the organisation and delivery of school sports events, tournaments, and trips (e.g. booking venues, arranging transport).
Provide first aid support during PE lessons and events (if qualified).
Support the delivery of extracurricular clubs and activities.

The role will be varied and duties will include:
Assisting in the creation of a fun, positive, safe and inclusive learning environments
Supporting small groups and individuals in the teaching environment, for instance those with learning needs, the least active and the more able pupils
Promoting key health messages and acting as a community 'activator' to engage young people in developing lifelong health and well-being initiatives
Setting up activities, clearing away resources, looking after all sports equipment (ensuring it is fit for use, in the right place and in good order), maintaining wall displays etc. as guided by teaching staff

Involved in co-ordinating off site sporting events, willing to accompany students on educational visits, outings and sporting / PE events as supervised by the teacher or senior person responsible
Involved in administration tasks including letter writing, bookings, transport arrangements, marketing, social media etc.
Developing positive relationships and acting as a role model to others at all times, as well as acting as an ambassador for the school and Go Active

The post holder will support a successful programme of activities for schools across Plymouth, which involves the planning, organisation and delivery of activities. The post holder will also have the ability to coach/deliver sessions within schools to support the wider PSSP programmes. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the School Sport Partnership Team and will be based at Sir John Hunt Community College. The role will also involve supporting the Outdoor and Adventurous Activities and Indoor Rowing work programmes carried out by the Partnership as well as festivals, events and extra-curricular clubs.

You will be enrolled onto the Level 2 Community Activator Apprenticeship qualification with a focus on a swimming specialism. As an individual you’ll relish the opportunity to work within our partner schools and communities, supporting in the delivery of our Swim Ed programme across various schools within Farnborough, Basingstoke and surrounding areas.
Fully supported by our tutor team, you ‘ll be given opportunities to learn appropriate teaching strategies and techniques which will give you the best possible start within the sports coaching sector alongside the all important practical experience of delivering high quality swimming sessions.
The apprenticeship will be a mix of both theory related study and practical delivery. Working alongside our experienced educators, you will have a first-hand experience in how to plan, deliver and review swimming sessions in a school environment. There will be several additional workshops and qualifications for you to attend to develop your knowledge of the sector further as you progress through the course.
Qualifications you will gain through this qualification:
Level 2 Community Activator Apprenticeship.
NPLQ lifeguards’ qualification (or equivalent)
Level 2 STA swim teacher qualification (or equivalent)
Pre-requisites required:
Jump / dive into deep water
Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water
Tread water for 30 seconds
Surface dive to the floor of the pool
Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits.
Key Responsibilities:
Support with the planning and delivery of Swim Ed sessions
Commitment to complete NPLQ and swim teacher training alongside the apprenticeship
