Every day is different within the Service department. As a Service Technician/Mechanic apprentice, some of your duties will include:
Use of diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults
Testing of parts and systems to ensure correct working
Following checklists to ensure all critical parts of vehicles are examined
Carrying out bumper to bumper overview, service, and inspection.
Maintenance of electronic systems including on-board entertainment systems
Undertaking repair and maintenance of vehicle parts including clutches, gearboxes, tyres, brakes, and suspension
Completion of legible and accurate paperwork for the customers and centres records
Maintenance of a clean and tidy work environment
You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of products including traditional, hybrid and electronic engines. From heritage vehicles to leading edge modern technology, our range will provide you with a varied technical training experience to build your skills as a Service Technician/Mechanic.

During our 2-year programme, you’ll work as part of an awesome team to support the installation of low carbon technology, including air source heat pumps, in customers’ homes. Spend your time interacting with customers to install, service, fault find and repair our amazing tech. You could even find yourself planning, selecting, installing, servicing and maintaining low carbon tech with the supervision and support of experienced team members. You will also be responsible for:
Carrying out outstanding work with design criteria, manufacturers guidance, regulations and industry recognised standards and procedures in mind at all times
Completing prep work for the installation of low carbon tech
Testing handover procedures for low carbon tech
Removing and disposing of old heating and hot water systems (to make place for our shiny, low carbon ones!)
Completing routine servicing and maintenance within customer homes
Training:
Level 3 Low Carbon Heating Technician, including Functional Skills in maths and English, if required.
Block release at an Octopus Energy facility.
