Assist the Senior Manager in preparing year-end accounts and tax returns for our clients
Help ensure clients remain fully compliant with their statutory obligations
Support the Head of VFO (our bookkeeping department) to keep client bookkeeping data and records accurate and up to date
Assist with preparing and filing CIS returns and VAT returns, including construction-specific rules such as the domestic reverse charge
Be trained in running client payrolls, working alongside experienced team members
Progress towards independently managing payroll for a portfolio of clients
Carry out company secretarial tasks including Companies House filings for our clients
Assist in preparing management information (MI) that gives our clients real insight into how their business is performing, a core part of how we help owners make better decisions
Communicate directly with HMRC on behalf of clients, handling queries professionally and accurately
Build the confidence and client-facing communication skills needed to represent Thomas Emlyn well
Get hands-on with the cloud accounting and automation tools we use day to day, and help us spot where new technology can save time or add value for clients
Bring fresh ideas, we want everyone on the team, apprentices included, contributing to how we stay ahead of the curve
Training:You'll study towards your AAT Level 3 qualification with First Intuition, combining college-based study with full on-the-job training and mentoring from senior members of the team.Training Outcome:This role is deliberately broad because we want to build you into a well-rounded accountant. What you’d be involved in
General office duties including answering the telephone, filing, franking etc.
Being a support arm to Senior Accountants, working on project task as required
Preparation of VAT returns (on-the-job training will be provided)
Maintaining IRIS database – managing the data accurately and efficiently
Writing to clients; including datamining and preparing mail merge documents.
Full exposure to the different elements of accounting and business advisory based on skills identified over your time with the firm
Job shaping – completing role specific tasks as you progress through the firm

Face to face learning via training provider approx. 1 day per week with an exam schedule determined by provider
You will be enrolled onto a relevant Accounting Course via an Apprenticeship - the course will be discussed based on experience and current qualifications (eligibility applies)
You will undertake tri-partite progress reviews every 2 months with the course provider, the firm and you to monitor performance with your study and job performance
You will receive on the job training for any new task that you undertake and accountancy-related software

Group Head of Finance – Athens, Greece
I am currently partnering with an exceptional client in the Hospitality sector to recruit a high-caliber Head of Finance to lead their team in Athens.This is a pivotal role reporting directly to the CEO. You will be responsible for driving financial excellence across the group, overseeing IFRS compliance, and managing the consolidated financial reporting for a fast-paced, multi-entity organization.
The Team & Structure
You will be stepping into a well-structured environment, leading a team of one Senior Accountant and two Junior Accountants. Additionally, you will have the support of an experienced Finance Manager who is moving into a dedicated reporting and finance systems role, ensuring you have the technical infrastructure to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation of group consolidated financial statements (IFRS).
Oversee the annual audit process and manage external auditor relationships.
Serve as Company Secretary, managing board documentation and statutory records.
Maintain the fixed asset register and robust internal control systems.
Partner with the CEO and department heads on budgeting and strategic forecasting.
What We Are Looking For
Qualifications: Qualified CA or equivalent.
Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience, including group reporting and consolidations.
Background: A "Top 10" audit firm background and experience within the Hospitality industry are essential.
Systems: High proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP systems (ideally Galaxy) is a plus.
