Teach Plus are currently working with a large primary school located in the Hounslow area who are seeking a SEN Teacher to join them from April 2025 to work in their MLD Centre, made up of four small classes.
The school is located in the heart of Hounslow, situated in a new building with state-of-the-art facilities. Children are genuinely excited to come to school and learn and feel safe in their learning environment. There are lots of opportunities for further development and training for staff members.
For the SEN Teacher role, you will lead 4 small classes, directing and delegating activities to HLTA’s and other members of the SEND team.
As a SEN Teacher, you will be required to:
Plan, prepare and teach lessons in the Centre of MLD
Plan and prepare lessons for other classes within the SEND department
Be able to write clear pupil reports, targets, annual reviews and EHCP’s
Adapt teaching and learning to meet the needs of each individual child
Maintain consistent relationships with parents surrounding their academic progression
Attend meetings and INSET days to further support the internal development of the school
The ideal candidate for the SEN Teacher role will have:
Experience as a SEN Teacher, ideally within primary settings
A strong work ethic who is willing to commit until the end of the academic year
UK recognized Teaching Qualification with QTS
Enhanced DBS Certificate with the Update Service
Right to work in the UK

Duties and Responsibilities to include:
Direct, supervise and provide particular support for pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.

In year 1, Apprentices will spend 3 days studying at university and 2 days developing in school. They will build progressively from TA support initially to 40% teaching timetable by the end of year 2.
In year 2 and 3, they will spend 3 days in the school and 2 days studying at university. Gradually building their teaching commitment to 60% timetable.
In year 4, Apprentices will spend 4 days at school with one further day at University. Their teaching commitment will increase to 80% in preparation for successful completion and QTS accreditation.
Teacher apprentices in year 1 will observe and reflect upon practices used by a range of staff predominantly in their specialist subject, but will also receive excellent support and training in reflecting on practises of pedagogy that are transferable in different subjects.

Support pupil learning through specific learning programmes, setting high expectations while fostering independence and building confidence
Promote inclusion by encouraging pupils to interact and work collaboratively
Collaborate with the SENCO and other teachers to assess individual children's needs and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Adapt and develop resources for EAL and SEND pupils, ensuring their safety and curriculum accessibility
Assist with follow-up for related services such as speech, language, or physical therapy
Mentor students individually and in groups, planning and leading intervention and booster sessions to address challenging topics
Observe, record, and provide feedback on pupil performance
Assist in creating materials for curriculum delivery and classroom displays
Support whole-class teaching as needed
Use strategies, in consultation with the teacher, to assist in behavior management and support pupils’ learning objectives.
Assist pupil achievement outside the classroom, e.g., in the computer lab or library
Act as a Key Worker for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD)
Work with students individually or in small groups, both in and out of lessons
Plan and implement strategies for students on the Pastoral Support Programme, ensuring adherence to behavioral norms
Develop resources tailored for students with SEN
