Histopathological processes (including sample booking in/receipt, cut up scribe, macro typing, embedding, microtomy, H&E production, quality procedures, filing blocks and slides, digital pathology)
Perform direct specimen transfer of A&B category specimens
Manage the process for same day processing of biopsies
Perform special stains
Perform Immunohistochemistry
DNA preparation processes including microtomy and cutting rolls
Achieve and maintain a high level of knowledge for each process, and cascade that knowledge to technical line reports
Assist in the general duties of all laboratory areas including:
Receipt/testing/preparation of reagents
Completion of tasks on laboratory task lists
Calibration, monitoring and maintenance of equipment
Monitoring and maintenance of stock levels
Management of waste and general ‘housekeeping’ duties
Maintenance of a clean and tidy working environment
Manage the technical and knowledge development of the MLA/LRA team up to full competency and ability to train others
Work in collaboration with the senior staff to ensure the flow of work through the laboratory is always optimum, creating rotas when required
Frequently review practice to ensure that the process is efficient, raise identified improvements to the Senior Biomedical Scientists
Training:You will undertake a Level 5 Technician Scientist apprenticeship with an Ofsted rated 'Outstanding' training provider, CSR Scientific Training, leading to a BTEC Level 5 HND in Applied Science (Biology pathway).
Most of the learning will take place online one day per week, with some practical elements taking place in Birmingham City Centre throughout the duration of the 3-year apprenticeship.

We are fortunate to have our own state-of-the-art Academy on our site in Ferndown led by our own Learning Manager, where we offer apprentices the opportunity to learn on site through practical and theory-based exercises and projects.
The apprenticeship journey begins with apprentices spending their first 6 months in our academy having a structured learning programme which takes them through engineering, manufacturing and material science.
Apprentices then go on a rotational programme, completing placements in different areas which include engineering, manufacturing, material science, customer service, business administration, robotics and automation before settling into a role that suits you. Whilst they do this, they will be continually studying towards a qualification at either level 2, 3, 4 or a degree that suits both the business and individual career aspirations. This year we are particularly interested in applicants who have an interest in material science and keen to study for a chemistry degree or who are looking to pursue a career in commercial, customer service, logistics or quality. Training:You will study via an open university course through our learning academy, which is supported by our on-site Academy Tutor. Executing the predefined Design of Experiment (DoE) for Bio (corn) based Polyol for coating application.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform the formulation of a batch with different polyols and catalyst loading, as well as testing (tensile, elongation, UV, crack bridge, gel time, abrasion resistance, and other applicable tests.
Support the formulation Scientist with running experiments to evaluate the polyer film performance activities.
Perform analysis of the experimental data to arrive at conclusions.
Utilize in-house analytical tools to perform measurements.
Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to the team.
Collaborate with chemists across the company for next-generation products.
Participate in team, departmental and safety meetings.
Design and conduct research experiments.
Formulation of experimental samples.
Prepare lab samples for testing.
Develop and document test methods.
Comply with all safety regulations, sound lab techniques and good record keeping.
Deliver a final presentation of your project work to the R & D group.
EXPERIENCE &/or EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
