Footwear manufacturing is highly skilled work. As a Dr. Martens apprentice, you will be working alongside the production team at our Made in England Factory, Wollaston, Northamptonshire, where our iconic 1460 boot was born. Surrounded by our footwear production experts, you’ll learn in a supportive and collaborative fast-paced environment, integrating traditional hands-on skills with innovative manufacturing technology. You will learn the footwear production process from start to finish. Daily activities will include gaining experience in the following areas:
Clicking: operating cutting presses to specified quality standards, minimising wastage of skins and using innovative leather scanning and digital cutting technology
Closing: creating Dr. Martens uppers using a variety of sewing machines and other specialist machinery
Lasting: shaping the shoe around a last and attaching the sole to our famous yellow stitched welt
Shoe room: adding the final touches- lacing, cleaning, and boxing ready for dispatch
Training:The apprenticeship runs for 15 months in our Made in England factory. You will learn everything to do with Dr. Martens footwear manufacturing as well as aspects such as the tanning process, sizing, other footwear constructions and health and safety.
We are closely connected with Northampton College, where you will study and learn throughout the year, as well as with other companies in the footwear industry around Northamptonshire.
Your study programme will require you to attend Northampton College two days per month.

Use Tapestry to log children’s progress and development and communicate with parents/carers.
Attend all out of work activities eg, training, staff meetings, parents’ consultations, Christmas and end of year parties.
Prepare snacks and clean snack areas and kitchen, prior to and when finished.
Clean snack areas and kitchen after lunch times.
Clean paint and craft equipment after use where needed.
Ensure each child is collected by the person named on the register at the end of the sessions.
Work to the Routines of the Nursery and younger children’s routines from home.

You will support the Revenues and Benefits team in delivering high-quality customer-focused services in relation to the processing applications for Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP), ensuring compliance with legislation, council policies and service standards.
With full training and support, your duties will include:
Processing all aspects of a Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP) claims, this will include calculating a customer’s entitlement to DHP’s
Provide excellent customer service via multiple access channels dealing with both internal and external customer enquiries via telephone, email, written correspondence and face-to-face contact
Assisting with the processing and distribution of documents using the Council’s document imaging systems
Using council computer systems accurately to process information in line with legislation, regulations and council policies
Maintaining high standards of accuracy, quality and productivity to meet service performance targets
Supporting colleagues and working effectively as part of a team
Seeking guidance on complex or contentious cases from supervisors or experienced colleagues
Keeping records of work completed and providing management information when required
Actively following the Council’s Customer Care, Equality, Health & Safety and Quality policies
Training:Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 Apprenticeship:
The apprenticeship training will be delivered in the workplace, as you will receive visits from a college assessor
The apprenticeship will also include a proportion of 20% Off The Job Training and a robust programme of Mandatory Apprentice Training provided by Sandwell Council to include Fire Awareness, Prevent, Safeguarding, Data Protection & Cyber Security and Equality & Diversity
If required, Functional Skills in English and maths will be completed prior to End-Point Assessment

Under the guidance of teachers, the successful candidate will be involved in working with individuals or small groups of children to support the education, personal and social development of pupils and establishing positive relationships to assist pupils complete structured learning activities.
Duties may include:
Support to implement learning activities working with individual or small groups of pupils
