The Role
You’ll play a key role in delivering cost management and advisory services across all stages of the project lifecycle. Depending on experience, you’ll work independently or lead a small team and providing expert advice to clients and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
You’ll be involved in:
•Preparing and managing cost plans, estimates, and tender documentation
•Providing procurement and contract advice (JCT / NEC)
•Managing project budgets, value engineering, and risk management
•Delivering post-contract administration and reporting
•Building strong client relationships and supporting business development
•Mentoring and supporting junior team members
About You
•Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction, Cost Management, or similar
•4+ Years Experience
•Confident working with NEC and/or JCT forms of contract
•Strong analytical, communication, and client-facing skills

A combination of being responsible for fulfilling Quantity Surveying responsibilities on contracts which you will be allocated, and assisting other Quantity Surveyors fulfil their responsibilities. The balance of this will move to more independent responsibilities as your knowledge grows and is demonstrated.
Prepare, submit and negotiate Applications for Payment, collecting the information from relevant sources, e.g. Project Mangers, delivery records, site measures etc.
Collect and present information necessary for the accounting team to create VAT Invoices. Co-ordinate with the Accounting team to resolve queries and receive timely payment.
Extract and organise information from various software programs to contribute to contract-specific and company-wide Monthly Reports and forecasts.
Present and review cost information with the Operations team to optimise expenditure.
Produce and send enquiries to subcontractors inviting them to tender. Assist Senior QS with compiling and negotiating subcontracts
Receive and analyse supplier and subcontractor quotations, then determine with the Operations team which to proceed with based on financial and non-financial factors.
Training:
Cert HE Quantity Surveying.
Day release delivery at ARU Chelmsford campus.

My client, an established large firm of multi discipline construction consultants now seeks a QUANTITY SURVEYOR at either recently chartered level or a bit above that.
You will work on large commercial projects where you will work as part of a team and you will work on smaller commercial projects too.

Assist in assessing the validity of applications for payment from subcontractors including all remeasurable works and authorise interim valuations to enable payments to be made by the Accounts Department.
In conjunction with the Surveyor establish a Subcontractor Register for each site under their control, prepare for enquiries to be sent to tenderers, selected in conjunction with the Surveyor/Senior Surveyor and Project/Site Manager, and assist in the preparation of comparisons
Attend pre-order meetings, record minutes and follow up any action points. Ensure Pre-Order Questionnaire is received back, completed, before holding pre-order meeting. Assist in preparing a formal order which is to be placed with the successful subcontractor no later than commencement of the works.
Ensures, as part of the order process, the following have been complied with by the subcontractor: How the Apprentices will train - Where training will take place (At Work or at College) - if it involves travelling somewhere else, include an address if you can. And how often will training be?

Main Responsibilities of the Senior Estimator, Estimator Estimating Manager:
Providing technical and sales support when required

Requirements for the Senior Estimator, Estimator/ Estimating Manager:
A relevant construction or building-related qualification, similar to; HNC/HND Construction, BSc Construction Management, BSc Quantity Surveying, BEng Civil Engineering, NVQ Level 3–5 Construction, CIOB or RICS-accredited qualification
Experience working as an Estimator or in a similar commercial role
Strong technical and mathematical background
Experience within commercial fit-out
