Carry out planned inspections and quality checks on automotive parts and assemblies, ensuring compliance with specification standards
Accurately record, analyse, and report quality data to support manufacturing performance and decision making
Support and contribute to structured investigations into quality issues, including root cause analysis and the identification of corrective and preventative actions

You will be assigned an assessor who will visit you in the workplace every 6-8 weeks to support you on your apprenticeship

Day-to-day tasks include:

The successful candidate will complete their Lean Manufacturing Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship qualification
Dependent upon prior qualifications, learners may also need to complete functional skills in maths and English

Potential to have a full-time position at FCB and progress within the organisation from general operator to prepare / polisher / paint sprayer /powder coater or quality inspector. Further progression into leadership / management

The apprentice will work alongside experienced maintenance operatives as part of an in-house team delivering maintenance services to residential blocks and communal areas. An average day or week will involve a mix of planned maintenance tasks, reactive repairs, learning activities, and site-based support work.
Key tasks will include:
Assisting maintenance operatives with general handyman and property maintenance duties across multiple residential sites
Supporting reactive maintenance work such as attending to reported defects, minor repairs, and emergency call-outs under supervision
Assisting with planned maintenance programmes, including regular inspections, preventative works, and scheduled repairs
Carrying out basic repairs and maintenance tasks under supervision, including minor plumbing work (e.g. replacing taps, fixing leaks, clearing blockages), basic carpentry, and simple repairs to fixtures and fittings
Supporting painting and decorating work, including surface preparation, patch repairs, and finishing of communal areas
Assisting with basic electrical-related tasks where appropriate, such as changing light fittings, replacing bulbs, and safe isolation procedures (non-qualified work only)
Learning to safely select, use, and maintain hand tools and basic power tools in line with company procedures
Following health and safety requirements at all times, including use of PPE, manual handling techniques, COSHH awareness, and site risk assessments
Assisting in identifying maintenance issues during site visits and reporting findings accurately to supervisors or the property inspector
Supporting the completion of job sheets, maintenance logs, photographs, and digital reporting systems
Assisting with stock control, materials handling, and keeping maintenance of vehicles and storage areas organised
Developing customer service skills when working in occupied properties, including professional communication with residents and site staff
Working as part of a team to meet service levels, response times, and quality standards expected by the block management company
Attending off-the-job training, toolbox talks, and apprenticeship review meetings as required
Throughout the apprenticeship, the apprentice will progressively take on more responsibility as skills and confidence develop, moving from observation to supervised tasks and, where appropriate, independent work
Training:Our apprenticeship is delivered through a block release model. Apprentices attend our training centre, which is located on the Medway City Estate, Rochester ME2 4LT, for three consecutive days each month across a three-month period, focusing on developing core knowledge and practical skills.
In the fourth month, the trainer visits the workplace to carry out an employer review, ensuring progress and development in the workplace. This four-month cycle repeats throughout the two-year programme, providing a structured balance of centre-based learning and on-the-job development.
A total of 14 job cards need completing with supporting evidence, such as photo or video evidence, to demonstrate abilities in readiness for the Apprenticeship Assessment.Training Outcome:
