An innovative engineering manufacturer is seeking an experienced Lead Electrical & Electronics Engineer to support their product design team on a contract basis. You’ll take a technical lead role across electrical and electronic design for complex educational and industrial technology products used worldwide.
In this hands-on position, you’ll guide a small electronics team while working across the full product lifecycle — from concept and schematics to PCB/PCBA work, component selection, integration of motors, pumps, heaters, and embedded systems, as well as fault-finding down to component level. Experience with PLCs, HMIs, microcontrollers, and electrical systems up to ~10kW is highly valuable.

Leading electrical & electronic design for new and legacy products
Diagnosing and improving PCBAs at component level
Creating electrical schematics and integrating mechanical/electromechanical systems
Selecting components and suppliers, balancing cost, performance & reliability

Ensure anomalies identified during online and offline inspections are accurately recorded and reported to the Inspection Coordinator, Superintendent/OVM and Client in a timely manner determined by the magnitude of the finding and anomaly criteria.
Assist in project reporting and delivery in accordance with Fugro and client specifications and document control parameters; document any variations to the workscope or procedures and inform the Client Deliverables department.
Promote teamwork at the worksite among all associated parties and ensure good communication lines, especially during shift handovers.
Ensure awareness, understanding and control of all computer operating systems relating to the content of the project or contract.
Ensure inspection equipment calibration procedures are followed and/or undertaken by third parties. Where necessary, compile and check data from these other sources such as Cathodic

Formal qualifications to a minimum of HND level in Engineering or IT.
CSWIP 3.4u or 3.3u.

Initially you will be at our National Training Centre in Eakring, Nottinghamshire for your Induction period which is around six weeks, then periodically for technical training

Our three-year Higher Apprenticeship Substations programme will train you to become an engineer in our substations. Here, we transform high-voltage electricity into low-voltage electricity, making it usable for homes and businesses.
During your training, you'll learn about
Testing equipment
Safety protocols
System protection and control
Substation refurbishment, maintenance, technical support, problem diagnosis, and fault fixing
This job will have a significant impact on the transmission of electricity in England and Wales for the next 40 or 50 years. You'll be involved in maintenance work, asset replacement and refurbishment, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and connecting new customers.
You'll also play a crucial role in integrating renewable energy sources like wind and solar farms into the transmission network.
As you progress, you may even commission new equipment and take on responsibilities for the safety of your co-workers. Stripping and assessing of customers units (Pumps and mixing equipment used on farms, wastewater works, Bio-Gas plants and general industrial applications). This will require both mechanical and electrical skills.
Installation work on site, working with other project stakeholders.
Servicing of units both in the workshop and more usually on sites across the UK and Ireland.
General workshop duties including the use od welding, drilling, cutting and shot blasting equipment.
Training:An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation.
