One batch is complete the operator will test for quality, adjust as needed to assure specification is met by following written standard operating procedures, and then fill product into specified packaging and palletize pails or drums.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Control or operate chemical processes or systems of machines using control boards, Human Machine Interface (HMI computer touch screen) or semi-automatic equipment. Draw samples of products, and conduct quality control tests to monitor processing and ensure that standards are met. Use appropriate scales or measurement devices to add materials to the kettle as specified by batch process orders. Must be able to read and understand recording instruments, pressure gauges, scales, flow meters, panel lights, and other indicators to verify the conformity of process conditions. Monitor control settings and make necessary adjustments on equipment. Accurately record production and downtime via written documentation.

We are currently recruiting for a machine maintenance engineer for an ongoing contract for our client in Portsmouth.
Purpose of the Job
Support, maintain and improve production equipment to maximise manufacturing availability.
Principal Responsibilities
1. To maintain production equipment to ensure maximum uptime target of 95% availability.
2. To promptly identify root cause of equipment failure and implement subsequent repair.
3. To manage an existing Planned Maintenance system, perform tasks to predetermined schedule, identifying potential operator owned tasks to sustain process uptime & maximise capacity.
4. To manage PM system & calibration of production test systems.
5. To identify & ensure sufficient spares are available to provide adequate response time regarding component failure
6. To specify and implement improvements to the production process or equipment to achieve cost, productivity or quality benefits.
7. To ensure process, equipment and ergonomic risk assessments are completed where necessary.
10. Ensuring timely completion of HSE actions
11. To write technical documents to define procedures, including cell maintenance instructions including defining of TPM schedules
12. To liaise with identified external partners/vendors regarding technical aspects of production equipment and spares.
13. To design or detail necessary jigs and fixtures.
13. Ensuring timely completion of Kaizen ideas
Shift hours will be Day shift hours as Monday - Thursday 08:00 - 16:45 and Friday 08:00 - 12:00
THE CANDIDATE
I. Education Required (academic and/or technical education)
Literacy and Numeracy.
A broad range of qualifications may be acceptable; however, it is envisaged that there should be a sound Engineering background with a demonstrable ability, ideally supported by a recognised Mechanical or Electrical apprenticeship. An ONC/HNC in an Engineering discipline would be advantageous.
Computer literate experience with MS Office.
Electrical installation qualification to a Minimum of 17th Edition desirable.
Technical Skills & Specific Knowledge Required (specific skills and knowledge required for the position)
Practical experience with a hands-on and methodical approach to mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis/analysis with the ability to use diagnostic tools/equipment.
The ability to communicate effectively with internal customers and external suppliers both on technical matters and general levels
Proven working knowledge of assembly automation including diagnosing pneumatic system logic
Previous experience of installation/testing, & fault finding of electrical systems and Experience of PLC program and control system interrogation would be an advantageous.

Follow correct safety procedures at all times including ensuring the plant is correctly isolated and the correct permits are in place before commencing any work on any machine (LOTO procedure).
Follow site waste management procedures and support energy and waste reduction activities.
Maintain correct operational conditions and take corrective actions as required.
Complete all agreed product quality testing, sampling and recording of results through the systems provided.
Supply all materials (components, bulk product, packaging) to machines to ensure maximum operational efficiency and minimise any losses.
Maintain 5S standards in own area and support 5S improvement activities by identifying areas for improvement.
Undertake scheduled basic maintenance activities (e.g. applying cleaning, inspection, lubrication standards to equipment) during planned maintenance slots and complete maintenance documentation required.
Changeovers - complete basic changeovers including associated washout, and sanitation procedures.
Attend and contribute in daily review meetings and perform effective shift handovers (written and verbal). Contribute to line logbooks.
Visually manage relevant production data and information and communicate and share all that is relevant to colleagues in a timely and open manner.
Assist team members and technical colleagues to improve machine and process efficiency using TPM methodology.
Participate in TPM Improvement teams as required using range of core tools and techniques to solve problems.
