About the role and school
We are seeking a PPA Cover Teacher to join a friendly and well-established primary school in Waltham Forest from September. This PPA Cover Teacher role offers the opportunity to teach across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, delivering pre-planned lessons while ensuring pupils remain engaged and continue to make excellent progress.
The successful PPA Cover Teacher will join a supportive staff team with strong behaviour systems and a collaborative approach to teaching and learning. As a PPA Cover Teacher, you will enjoy variety throughout the week while building positive relationships with pupils and staff across the school.
This PPA Cover Teacher opportunity is ideal for an adaptable and confident practitioner who enjoys teaching across different year groups and maintaining high standards of learning.
Job Responsibilities
Deliver engaging pre-planned lessons as a PPA Cover Teacher
Teach across EYFS, KS1 and KS2
Maintain positive behaviour and classroom routines
Assess learning and provide feedback where required
Work collaboratively with teachers and senior leaders
Contribute positively to the wider school community

Duties to include:
Provide structured support in accordance with specific work programmes designed and supervised by individual teachers
Support the teacher in the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans
Assist in maintaining classroom discipline through the implementation of the school’s behaviour management strategies

To deliver pre-planned programmes of work.
Planning and organisation of activities for children and support to teachers in the completion of assessment and other pupil records.
Undertaking duties on a rota basis during mid-morning and mid-afternoon breaks.
To assist the teacher with supervision of pupils on school trips/visits.
Keeping materials and equipment in tidy/safe manner.
Liaison with teachers and other staff to obtain, exchange and record information on pupils in accordance with school policy.
Support the supervision of individuals/groups of pupils.
Support with Curriculum
To assist in the teaching of the curriculum.
Support to teachers in the assessment and monitoring of pupils, in accordance with school policy.
To support individual/ group work across the curriculum to raise levels of achievement and to respond appropriately to pupils.
Participation in working groups on curriculum matters.
Involvement in planning meetings.
Attendance at staff meetings and appropriate training sessions as required.
Development and preparation of curriculum materials.

Sandwell apprentices also participate in our bespoke 'Skills Academy' for apprentices. In addition to a workplace mentor, you will receive support throughout your apprenticeship by a dedicated mentor from the Council's Apprenticeships team.Training Outcome:The post is offered on a fixed-term contract to cover the duration of the apprenticeship training. You will receive support and guidance to identify and apply for any further apprenticeships or internal jobs that you are suitably experienced and qualified for.
