Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, and motivated individual to join our team as a Level 3 Dental Nurse Apprentice. This is an excellent opportunity to begin a rewarding career in dentistry while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.
The successful candidate will work alongside experienced dental professionals, learning all aspects of dental nursing and patient care while attending training as part of their apprenticeship programme.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the dentist during a wide range of dental procedures.
Prepare and maintain clinical treatment rooms.
Decontaminate instruments and maintain infection prevention and control standards.
Support patients before, during, and after treatment.
Maintain accurate patient records in line with practice procedures.
Prepare materials, instruments, and equipment for dental treatments.
Provide excellent customer service and patient care.
Assist with reception duties when required, including booking appointments and answering telephone enquiries.
Follow health and safety policies and General Dental Council (GDC) standards.
Work towards completing the Level 3 Dental Nurse Apprenticeship qualification.

Training:Training will take place over four days on site with the employer, alongside one day of face-to-face teaching with a tutor at Shenstone House Campus, Halesowen College.Training Outcome:After a dental nurse apprenticeship, the usual path is: qualify and register as a dental nurse, gain experience, then progress into senior dental nurse, team leader or practice manager roles. Night:
* Average 36 hours per week (annualised hours contract).

As a Dental Nurse Apprentice, you will work closely with dentists and the wider clinical team while learning all aspects of the role, including:
Prepare treatment rooms, instruments and materials before patient appointments
Provide chairside support to dentists during a variety of dental procedures
Welcome and reassure patients, helping them feel comfortable throughout their visit
Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, cross-infection control and decontamination
Sterilise and prepare dental instruments following practice procedures
Record accurate patient information and update dental records
Support the management of stock, equipment and clinical supplies
Learn about preventative dental care and oral health promotion
Assist with appointment preparation and general day-to-day running of the practice
Develop excellent communication, teamwork and patient care skills while working alongside experienced dental professionals
Training:You will complete the Level 3 Dental Nurse Apprenticeship, which typically takes 18-24 months to complete.
Training will include:
Working full-time at Lowen Dental Spa in Romsey, gaining practical experience in a busy dental practice
Attending Eastleigh College on a day-release basis for off-the-job training
Learning through a combination of workplace experience, college teaching and independent study
Receiving regular reviews and support from an experienced workplace mentor and Professional Trainer
Building a portfolio of evidence throughout the apprenticeship before completing an End-Point Assessment
Training Outcome:Successful completion of the apprenticeship will allow you to register with the General Dental Council (GDC) as a qualified Dental Nurse.
There may also be opportunities to:
Become a permanent member of the Lowen Dental Spa team, subject to business needs and performance
Progress into more senior responsibilities within the practice
Develop specialist skills through additional post-qualification training

This role will provide efficient and reliable chairside support to clinicians while ensuring high standards of patient care, confidentiality, and GDPR compliance.
Day-to-day Dental Nurse duties may include:
Welcoming patients and assisting with appointment scheduling
Handling basic patient enquiries professionally and appropriately
Preparing surgeries, sterilising instruments, and maintaining infection control to CQC standards
Assisting clinicians during treatments and accurately updating patient records in line with GDPR
Supporting patients’ comfort, reassurance, and overall dental experience
Monitoring and managing stock, equipment, and surgery readiness
Maintaining clean, safe, and fully equipped clinical areas
Upholding patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times
Collaborating with dentists and the wider team to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality care

Training Outcome:
A career in dental nursing can grow in many rewarding directions. With experience, you could progress into roles such as Senior Dental Nurse, Lead Nurse, Treatment Coordinator, or Practice Manager
With further training, you could develop into a Dental Hygienist or Dental Therapist, delivering preventative, restorative, and routine treatments to patients
You could also specialise as an Orthodontic Therapist, working with dental professionals to improve the alignment and appearance of patients’ teeth
