ROLE OVERVIEW
We are currently looking for an Surface Modification Scientist to join a leading scientific company based in the Oxfordshire area. As the Surface Modification Scientist, you will be responsible for driving the development and expansion of innovative coating chemistries to support various projects.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your duties as the Surface Modification Scientist will be varied; however, the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1. Conduct practical lab-based work focused on current and new product R&D programmes linked to customer and emerging market needs.
2. Engage in R&D to extend the companys core platform and IP portfolio, involving testing and analytical work across various substrates and material forms.
3. Perform technical evaluation of results for further surface treatment development and broader application of experience and knowledge for product development purposes.
4. Conduct literature and market research to support current and future R&D programs, and prepare/review technical documents.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Surface Modification Scientist, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
1. Relevant degree in chemistry (i.e. Organic Chemistry, Synthetic Chemistry, Formulation Chemistry) with proven industry experience in polymeric membrane development and membrane separation processes.
2. A working knowledge and practical experience with organic chemistry, organic synthesis, coating development, or formulation is expected on application.

Synthetic Chemist – Battery Technology - Cambridge
A growing scientific technology house based in Cambridge are in the process of expansion and are actively looking to strengthen their in-house research team by bringing on a Synthetic Chemist to work on novel battery technologies.
As a Synthetic Chemist, you will be charged with developing the company’s next generation energy storage materials. This will include working within a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to maximise the performance of battery materials and contribute to developing a deep understanding of the key structure – property relationships in functional battery materials and materials formulations.
Some other key parts to the role will include;
Synthesis and chemical analysis of organic chemistry targets.
Formulation of functional material inks and pastes and their pre-device fabrication physical characterisation.
Creative contributions to brainstorms, studies, and project meeting discussions.
Proposal and design of novel materials and recommendations to solve chemical synthetic issues.
To be considered for this role we are looking for people with strong knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry and polymers that complements a PhD in Chemistry. Any experience with battery technologies or electrochemical techniques would be a significant advantage.

If you have expertise in waterborne chemistry and formulations knowledge in both architectural and industrial products, this is the opportunity you've been looking for. Technology Knowledge:
Expertise in broad ranges of coating chemistries particularly acrylic, epoxy, urethane, polyaspartics and sil(ox)anes etc.
Expertise in application and formulation science for various coating systems of primer, basecoat, topcoat systems for liquid waterborne, solventborne and 2K coatings along with expert understanding of DIY, Contractor, and OEM Coatings.

Chemistry - Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
