GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The intern will be responsible for executing the predefined Design of Experiment (DoE) for Bio (corn) based Polyol for coating application by supporting the formulation scientist with running the experiment and evaluating the polymer film performance activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and mix chemical formulations under supervision.
Conduct laboratory testing and evaluations of monomers.
Record, analyze, and report experimental data.
Maintain accurate lab documentation and follow safety protocols.
Assist in general lab organization and material preparation.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Must be a rising sophomore, junior or senior in good academic standing, pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field of study at an accredited college or university.
Organic Chemistry 2 coursework required, and polymer chemistry classes preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Experience within laboratories and manufacturing environments is preferred/encouraged but not required.
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic laboratory skills (mixing, measuring, handling chemicals).
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to follow procedures and safety guidelines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Incumbent must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, kneel, talk, hear, and lift up to 50 lbs.
COMPENSATION:
The hourly rate for applicants in this position generally ranges between $18.00 and $23.00. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications, operations, needs, and other considerations permitted by law.

Technology Knowledge:

QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE:
Chemistry - Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

At least 4 years of technical supervisory or management experience with a diverse workforce., M.S. or equivalent science degree in Chemistry, must possess a strong knowledge of organic chemistry, or related scientific field, minimum 10 years technical experience in product development in specific area of expertise, strong understanding of manufacturing, Quality assurance, scale up procedures, applications, raw materials purchasing, regulatory matters and must be computer literate, 2 to 3 years successful working experience with marketing group.

Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated Food Science or Chemistry Intern to join our R&D team for a summer internship. This is a hands-on opportunity to work with a variety of ingredients and food systems to support internal and external product application development.
The intern will work closely with scientists to conduct analytical testing, prepare product samples, and assist with performance evaluations in a laboratory setting.
Responsibilities:
Conduct laboratory and pilot scale work on finished food system to meet internal and external project requirements.
Prepare product samples for shelf-life testing, evaluation and data collection.
Coordinate, summarize and report experimental data clearly and concisely to support informed project decision making.
Support application testing in systems such as dressings, sauces, and dairy products
Record results and assist with data analysis
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field
Strong interest in laboratory and product development work
Good organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Prior lab experience (academic or internship) preferred
