We are a 3 form entry primary school from Recpetion to Year 6, which also includes a 52 place Nursery. Harris Primary Academy Chafford Hundred (HPACH) is a successful academy that was judged outstanding in every category in our October 2018 Ofsted inspection.
We are a sister school to Harris Primary Academy Mayflower and Harris Academy Chafford Hundred, along with the other Academies in the Harris Federation. We work very closely together and share the very best practice and leadership knowledge and capacity to make the education we offer outstanding. Our shared belief is that children thrive when they feel consistently happy and safe at school and our commitment to excellence is encapsulated in our vision statement: "Excellence, Every child, Every day."

Main task required of the job:
Be responsible for preparing and mounting wall displays
Be responsible for completing spontaneous observations and adding this to children's records as appropriate
Help to settle children in the nursery and liaise with parents daily
Work in the team to plan celebratory activities and cards for their key children i.e., Mother’s Day, Easter, Eid etc.
Ensure all children always have access to drinking water both indoors and outdoors
Record any accidents and incidents which may occur during the day
To conform to the nursery dress code
Respect and maintain confidentiality within the nursery
To put into practice the nursery’s policies and procedures
To work positively within the team structure and be included in the staff duty rotas
Generally, assist the staff when and where appropriate
Participate in staff training and staff meetings
Familiarise yourself with children’s individual care and dietary needs and ensure they are maintained, respected, and always followed
To respect and keep tidy all playrooms during and after use

The job roles that you are rotated for will be dependant on which qualifications you have achieved as well as the needs of the centre.
The Leisure Team Member - Apprentice role is an ideal opportunity to work, learn and develop your career within GLL.

- Understanding the services and products on offer to assist with customer questions and queries
- Supporting different types of customers with different needs
- Supporting the centre in gaining customer feedback on our products and services including dealing with customer complaints

Main Duties:
To tidy away at the end of each activity, ready for the next.
To keep the Nursery clean, neat and tidy, especially after messy activities.
To ensure that damaged or unsafe equipment is reported to your senior by the person who finds it.
To keep all toilet areas spotlessly clean.
To ensure that all unused resources or equipment is put away by the person who was using it.
To ensure that the children’s work is stored and filed away promptly, any work to go home is sent as soon as possible to avoid backlog and that work is displayed attractively and labelled accurately.
To ensure that all communications to parents from the Nursery are passed on quickly and efficiently.
To create and maintain a safe and stimulating atmosphere for the children.
To participate with the daily activities in accordance with the short, medium and long term plans.
To observe and encourage individual children in their activities, actively developing their skills.
To assist with the children’s toileting/nappy changing and washing and to promote awareness of personal hygiene.
To prepare the children’s snacks/trays in a hygienic and quick manner.
To supervise the children during break and lunch time, assisting with their feeding, as needed, and promoting sociable table manners, by sitting with the children and encouraging them through leadership, how to act, eat and behave, giving them a choice of healthy food, in a way that encourages good eating habits.
To encourage the children to be considerate and to respect other people’s belongings, such as coats, toys, etc.
To ensure that all art and craft materials, paint pots, glue etc. are topped up ready for use.
To be welcoming and approachable to the parents and children at all times, ensuring that each child and parent is greeted, then at the end of their day fed back to.
To undertake other general duties, including the cleaning of the Nursery at the end of the day, in the absence of the Cleaner, in support of the smooth running of the Nursery.

The nurseries team is over 80% qualified with the remaining staff undertaking training to achieve an NVQ and are fully first aid and basic food hygiene trained, a majority of our team have been working with us for years, they like the children, never want to leave!! The nursery has an amazing EYFS lead who not only a qualified teacher but is also an Early Years professional and the settings Special educational needs co-ordinator. She is a real asset to the Tom Thumb team and is fully involved in the settings planning and children’s developmental targets. We love to keep parents updated with photos and videos of what your child does at nursery each day and we use these to form your child’s own individual learning journey that becomes a real keepsake of the time they spend at nursery.
The nursery is set over three floors all of which have a classroom/playroom with an extensive range of equipment and creative materials for the children’s use. We believe that children get the most benefit from playing and exploring with everyday objects and have a wide range of exploratory equipment that lets them discover and learn at their own pace. The outside environment is an all-weather garden and has opportunities to be used as a rich learning environment.
