GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Quality Managers manages the Quality Process to ensure we are effectively meeting our key business metrics and satisfying all customer product requirements. Key responsibilities include Quality, Lean and Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement with responsibility for ISO quality systems and compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee all quality related functions in the plant. Act as primary plant liaison with Customers dealing with their processing issues. Participate in the development of specifications for processing, products, and materials. Work directly with Corporate and local Purchasing on vendor quality or supply issues; assist with vendor selection and qualification. Manage ISO Quality systems. Lead the lean/six sigma initiatives in the plant. Respond to and report on customer complaints - manage the root cause investigation, corrective action implementation and follow up, and the SAP quality process. Interact professionally and timely both verbally and in writing with customers and sales force. Develop quality standards for raw materials and finished product. Oversee all lab functions and personnel, assuring safety and integrity of those operations. Perform testing on raw materials and finished product as required. Implement material cost saving plans where and when appropriate. Participate in annual budget planning. Assist in all compliance activities, especially HazCom and maintaining SDS system. Other projects/tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Quality, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials, Polymer, or Business is required.
EXPERIENCE:
4+ years of experience is required. Experience with chemical batch-making operations and quality programs, such as Lean, ISO, Six Sigma, is required.

Requirements
5 years of experience in the manufacturing industry. 50% of the role is on floor and 50% in office. Should be willing to work with hourly associates and staff directly. Should be willing to work on the floor, roll up their sleeves and be a part of the team. Engineering or Chemistry degree is preferred but not mandatory with good significant manufacturing experience, use of lean principles in daily work. Six Sigma Black Beltpreferred. Sealant, Adhesive, Coating or Paint industry experience preferred. Able to travel 50%. Technical Expertise: Strong root cause analysis skills. Experience with processes such as TapRooT, Kepner Tregoe or equivalent is preferable. Demonstrated use of analytical analysis: statistical process control, process capability analysis, correlation, ANOVA, DOE preferable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Lead cross functional work teams focused on identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to provide sustainable improvements that meet/exceed expectations. Conduct semi-annual audits. Read, research, interpret, and analyze data on current processes, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Leverage knowledge of tiered governance systems, Kaizen, 5S, visual management and SMED to assist sites in improving efficiencies by evaluating process and practice from various perspectives. Influence and motivate others to attend to, participate in and own local continuous improvement efforts and initiatives. Lead cross-functional improvement projects, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet predefined objectives. Develop, monitor, and communicate project plans, timelines, and budgets with key stakeholders. Provide supportive project management expertise including MPST and monthly savings tracking, key performance indicators, and reporting. Teach, lead, and coach cross-functional teams on Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies. Use data analytics such as statistical process control, process capability analysis, and correlation to make data driven decisions while demonstrating quantitative improvement/impact. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety Assume a leadership position at the facility in partnership with the shift supervisors. Activities include resolution and communication regarding safety issues. Execute on scheduled PHA's and JSA's. Proactively monitor area and remediate potential safety issues. Use DAKOTA software as a tool for compliance and environmental, health and safety. Use the tool to report incidents, near misses, and non-conformances. LEAN Culture Develop and execute upon "standard work" activities. Assume responsibility for assigned activities on the Engineering Tier and other accountability boards. Conduct "GEMBA Walks" daily. Use walks as the primary means of education and communication of expectations. Improve productivity through elimination of non-value-added activities. Apply Engineering principles and methodologies to Improve productivity and eliminate waste. Product Quality Work to maximize equipment efficiency and quality for output. Member of the facility QIC. Ensure identification of root cause and subsequent prevention of future customer complaints. Assist in the training of operators with a focus on quality critical product specifications and process parameters. Significant experience with equipment troubleshooting and process design. Project Management Must be capable of successfully managing major process equipment projects (>$750k) on time and on budget. Managerial Must be capable of leading and/or supervising others in their role or in the execution of completing a project. Mentors less experienced engineers
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET Accredited university.
EXPERIENCE
Two to four years of related experience and/or training to include managing projects, troubleshooting, and improving equipt. Experience in both practical Process Engineering and Project Management is required. PLC experience is highly preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Six Sigma Black Belt is preferred
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Secondarily, the employee will be required to change over and repair line equipment as needed. Restock supplies and components on filling line as needed to support production. Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate. Inspecting drives, motors, and belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or performing other maintenance actions, following checklists. Using tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices. Assemble, install, or repair: wiring, piping, machinery, and equipment. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. Diagnose mechanical problems and determining how to correct them, utilizing repair manuals and parts catalogs as necessary.
Required Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent. 1-3 years of industrial experience. Experience with filling and packaging equipment. Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures. Ability to do basic math and enter computer data. Ability to coordinate with the work of others and solve problems in a team environment. Active participation in our Continuous Improvement Process. Ability to lift 75 pounds. Willingness to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities
Provide process engineering support for raw materials, compounding, production, and packaging functions to improve safety, and support the MS 168 continuous improvement process.
Production Support
Support daily production needs through process troubleshooting, experimentation and support for production requirements.
Continuous Improvement
Lead continuous improvement projects to reduce cost, increase material utilization, improve first time right, integrate new products/processes into production and reduce variation. Implement necessary changes and update all documentation (including drawings and SOP's) accordingly
Capital Plan
Coordinates with plant engineer to oversee capital projects necessary for the continued improvement and modernization of the plant. Ensure completion of projects within budgets.
Safety
Responsible for achieving and maintaining safety goals relative to the maintenance and engineering functions. Responsible for safety devices, safe design, etc. of all equipment. Administer process hazard analyses (PHA's) for identified materials, processes, and RHP Compliance
MS 168
Support the tier meeting process by the implementation and analysis of data collection and visual management systems.
Environmental Program reporting
Support the site's environmental program by assisting with reporting, compliance monitoring, and QA results in support of process engineering improvements.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial engineering 0 - 2 years' experience in manufacturing environment. Six Sigma/lean manufacturing experience. Understanding of process control methods, flowmeters, level monitors, and other process controls within a batch manufacturing process. Ability to read and interpret process drawings (process flow diagrams and P&ID's). PLC with ladder logic analysis. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. PC usage with MS Office Suite (AutoCAD experience a plus), strong interpersonal skills, good communication skills both written and verbal.
