Apprentice Teaching Assistant

Your duties as the Apprentice Teaching Assistant include:

Supervise and support the teaching activities of individuals or groups of children/young people Monitor individual pupils' progress, achievements, problems, condition and developmental needs Assist the teacher in the development, delivery and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care Programmes Prepare and deliver programmes to support Special Needs, one-to-one tuition, interventions etc. following the guidelines and training given under the guidance of the teacher Assist the teacher with the planning of learning activities in the classroom Provide support for local and national learning strategies e.g. English, Mathematics, and Early Years Assist the teacher with the administration of baseline/tests and other assessments To prepare and maintain equipment and teaching resources for lessons and activities Promote high standards of behaviour, employ effective de-escalation strategies and, where necessary, exercise appropriate physical intervention Record basic pupil data Support children’s learning through play and activities Assist with break-time supervision, including facilitating games and activities Assist with escorting pupils on educational visits Assist pupils with eating, dressing and hygiene as required while encouraging independence, where required Work with individual pupils with special educational needs Work with pupils for whom English is not their first language Monitor and manage stock and supplies for the classroom

Working Hours :
Location: Durham Schools (Bluebell Meadow & Fishburn). Hours: 37 per week. Mon - Fri, 8am-4pm.
