The ideal candidate will have some previous experience in a support or coordination role with a PR/comms focus, ideally in the voluntary or third sector. Given the nature of the role and the size of the organisations, flexibility and adaptability are key requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Working with PR team, develop new and innovative ways to launch new events and generate press coverage
Dealing with press enquiries and requests, along with PR and Comms Director
Keep and update coverage lists and manage all other elements of media monitoring
Working with the PR team to draft press releases – including putting them on the website
Working with the PR team to draft blog content for emails and social media
Liaising with benefitting charities regarding volunteers and social media posts
Keep media distribution lists up to date
Updating elements of the media page on the website
Liaising with social media team to pull together plans and ideas for content
Guest List Planning - including invites and packing crates
Manage and pulling together press packs
Help to deliver media coverage through high quality proactive and reactive media engagement.
Skills & Experience
A minimum of 12 months’ experience of working within an administrative role.
Previous experience of working in a fast-moving environment.
Experience of working and implementing a change in an environment where customer service is a critical requirement
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal at all levels and to be able to grasp the language and mood of the charity
Excellent grasp of the English language – spelling
Excellent telephone, interpersonal, negotiation and assertiveness skills in dealing with problem solving
Excellent organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail
Adaptable and resourceful – able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines, whilst responding to multiple demands from a variety of sources
Used to working with sensitive and confidential information.
An excellent knowledge of IT including Excel, Word and web databases
Understanding of breast cancer issues – (or willingness to develop knowledge of these issues) and the ability to deal sensitively and empathetically with these issues in practice
An understanding or interest in general health and sport - Desirable
Previous experience of working for a charity - Desirable
Previous experience in dealing directly with the public - Desirable
