Public Health Engineering Apprentice

In the role of Public Health Engineering Apprentice, we'll count on you to:

Assist experienced engineers in the public health design process in order to gain a detailed working knowledge of all parts of the industry Assist Senior Engineers with detailed design tasks and drawing production Develop an understanding of the different building materials and techniques employed in design Carry out detailed design calculations and develop a full understanding of computer design packages Maintain a Continuing Professional Development diary to assist in obtaining appropriate qualifications, including a degree apprenticeship Develop an understanding of appropriate Legislation Standards, Building Regulations and Codes of Practice Learn and understand design techniques and develop awareness of other design disciplines Maintain a training Log on a daily basis, recording achievements and experience Attend relevant training as required by the practice Attend Lunch time CPD’s and Knowledge Sharing sessions Assist in maintaining QA systems on projects

Training:

Building Services Engineer Level 6 Apprenticeship Standard:

Apprentices will be working 4 days a week during term time at the London Blackfriars office and full time during the rest of the year Apprentices will be attending university on a day release scheuduale in line with the university's timetable - the course is 4.5 years total along with the EPA (end point assessment)

Training Outcome:
Employees could become Senior Engineers in the public health engineering sectors within 5 years - this could then lead to Chartership and becoming a team leader. Within HDR, engineers have options to go down the technical route, the client care route or operational leadership opportunities within 10 years
