Apprentice Civil Engineering Technician

You will spend a significant amount of time working directly on civil engineering projects, gaining hands-on experience in areas like construction, design, surveying, and project management You will rotate through different departments or teams to experience a variety of roles and gain a well-rounded understanding of the civil engineering industry You will attend a college, typically on a part-time basis, to study for a civil engineering BTEC The apprenticeship typically includes assessments, exams, and coursework to ensure the apprentice gains theoretical knowledge alongside practical skills You will receive guidance from experienced professionals who act as mentors. This support helps them navigate complex engineering tasks and provides valuable insights into their professional development Regular performance reviews and feedback ensure that the apprentice is progressing and meeting learning objectives Throughout the apprenticeship, apprentices will focus on developing both technical and soft skills. They’ll learn to apply engineering principles to real-world problems and improve skills like communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership As you progresses, you will be involved in specialised training in areas such as software tools (e.g., AutoCAD), advanced project management techniques, or sustainability practices in engineering By the end of the apprenticeship, you will have a BTEC Level 3 Diploma and the necessary practical experience In civil engineering

Training:
Civil Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard Training will take place at City of Westminster College (Paddington Green Campus, 25 Paddington Green, London W2 1NB). It will be one day a week

Training Outcome:
Apprentices can progress to Project Engineers, Project Managers & Contracts Manager with a high level of technical knowledge of mechanical building services

Working Hours :
Generally, Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:00, although you will be required to work at and/or visit sites as part of your training. Sites are generally arranged for early morning and you should be prepared to start your day early as and when required
