This family-run business is experiencing continued growth and is now looking to expand their in-house manufacturing team with an experienced CNC Machinist (Wood).

The Role: As a 5-Axis CNC Machinist, you will be working within a state-of-the-art workshop in South East London, programming and operating CNC machines to manufacture precision components for bespoke fire doors and timber assemblies.
You’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for turning high-quality materials into products that meet exacting safety standards — all while contributing to a company with a strong reputation in the fire protection sector.
Key Responsibilities:Set up, operate, and program 5-axis CNC machines for timber and wood-based components
Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and job sheets
Manufacture bespoke fire door components to tight tolerances and industry standards
Perform routine maintenance checks and keep machines in good working condition
Work closely with design, joinery, and installation teams to ensure quality and accuracy
Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workshop environment
Ensure all work complies with health & safety and fire door certification requirements
Requirements:Proven experience operating 5-axis CNC machines in a woodworking or carpentry environment
Background in wood machining, bespoke joinery, or carpentry
Ability to read and understand technical drawings and CAD/CAM files
Excellent attention to detail and quality control
A proactive and positive attitude with strong problem-solving skills
Good communication and teamwork skills
