Overview 2Fawcett are recruiting for a Plant Manager to join a leading manufacturing business based in South Derbyshire on a full time, permanent basis.
Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for managing the organisational effectiveness of the operations under your remit, contributing to the short and long-term planning strategy of the business.
Role & Responsibilities of the Plant Manager • Contribute to short and long-term organisational planning and strategy as a member of the senior management team • Manage the implementation of initiatives geared towards operational excellence • Improve efficiency of production and warehouse operations by implementing robust initiatives • Increase the effectiveness and efficiency of support services to production and warehouse operations (Quality, Administration, Maintenance, Facilities) through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between all business functions • Drive initiatives in the management team and organisationally that contribute to long-term operational excellence • Ensure that all expenditure is correctly approved and within the allotted budget • Take necessary countermeasures to improve respect of budget • Agree & set objectives for direct reportees, and complete related performance appraisals • Ensure discipline is maintained throughout the plant and be responsible for conducting disciplinary and grievance meetings where approved • Take responsibility for all aspects of the production process ensuring a 100% just-in-time delivery performance to customers manufacturing site • Monitor performance and implement improvements • Ensure Maintenance department complies with company policies, achievement of departmental KPI’s including all government health and legislation is followed • Ensure warehouse department complies with company policies, achievement of departmental KPI’s including all government health and legislation is followed • Ensure that the plant complies with the safety plan agreed with the HSE coordinator and Director • Manage suppliers where necessary to ensure their effectiveness in supporting the plant Requirements of the Plant Manager • Proven manufacturing experience at senior management level • Ability to lead and motivate a team to ensure efficient operations and delivery of projects • Provide effective leadership • Well-versed in Production / Warehouse operations best practices • An excellent understanding of the manufacturing process, and its impact on performance in terms of efficiency, quality, materials, equipment, safety and legality • Logical problem solver • Excellent people management skills • Good computer literacy, including competence with MS Word and Excel • Excellent analytical and numerical capability • Ability to organise effectively and prioritise work duties
