Materials Scientist
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Materials Scientist to join a renowned company known for its pioneering research and development in sustainable materials. This role can be full-time or part-time offering excellent benefits and a salary circa £40,000. As a Materials Scientist, you will report to the Project Lead / Principal Scientist, conducting research and experiments to enhance material properties, applying theoretical principles, and collaborating with experts to develop innovative solutions. You will be responsible for: ? Conducting experiments and testing both new and existing materials. ? Developing new hypotheses and experimental techniques to enhance material understanding. ? Refining material deposition and processing methods to optimise performance. ? Analysing results against theoretical models and literature. ? Modelling material or device properties to predict application performance. ? Engaging with external experts and research institutions to expand capabilities. ? Contributing to intellectual property development through innovative solutions. What we are looking for: ? Previously worked as a Materials Scientist, Research Scientist, Physicist, Materials Engineer, Materials, Researcher, Research Associate or in a similar role. ? Experience in conducting experiments on novel materials or devices. ? Background in the development of new hypotheses for improving material properties. ? Degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering, with a PhD in a related field. ? Strong academic grounding in physics, with expertise in material properties. ? Ideally have experience in incorporating materials into test structures to demonstrate desired functional properties and modelling material properties or their performance in device structures.
