Apprentice M&E Technician

Commit to completing the full apprenticeship training programme and developing competence in the systems and procedures of the M&E department Understand and adhere to all Health and Safety and operational procedures Learn to carry out planned maintenance of equipment in line with approved maintenance instructions and schedules to ensure reliability and availability Develop the ability to diagnose faults and perform corrective maintenance on electro-mechanical equipment using approved diagnostic procedures Participate in the preparation of equipment for service, including inspection and testing, to meet operational and customer requirements Accurately record and report equipment performance in accordance with agreed instructions and schedules Learn to use and navigate the department’s computerised administrative systems Become qualified in the use and operation of all relevant M&E equipment Work effectively and productively as part of a fully integrated infrastructure team

Training:

Year 1:

Foundation Skills:

Up to 9, 4-week modular training blocks delivered on Mon, Wed, Thu and Fri - Please refer to attachment "Workshop Modules" and select between 4 (minimum) and 9 (maximum) These 4-week modules focus on practical skills, with a series of knowledge tests conducted in a multiple-choice way which is designed to prepare them for the end point assessment style knowledge test  Development Knowledge - Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering1 day per week delivered on Tuesday

Units of delivery are:

Health and Safety Electrical & Electronic Principles Mathematics Maintenance Procedures

Year 2:

Development Knowledge - Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering 1 day per week delivered on Monday

Units of Delivery are:

Electrical Technology Mechanical Principles Engineering Project Business for Engineers Sustainability in Engineering will be introduced replacing one of the other units – awaiting final decisions from the delivery team Monitoring and Fault Diagnosis Communications Development Skills - Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Maintenance Delivery of Level 3 Diploma in the workplace
Trainer visits workplace 4-6 weeks 

Year 3:

Development Skills - Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Maintenance Delivery of Level 3 Diploma in the workplace continued Progression Opportunity to Higher National Certificate (separately funded)

 

Year 4:

Development Skills - Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Maintenance Delivery of Level 3 Diploma in the workplace continued
