Principal Mechanical Design Engineer - South of France

The Redline group have an exciting new opportunity, based in the South of France, to work with a new, up and coming, innovative company.

This is an exceptional opportunity to work on highly advanced space systems.

My client is looking for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, to join their site, based in the South of France, who will lead the mechanical and thermo-mechanical development activities related to their space products, which include high-precision optical systems.

Hybrid and flexible working is available for this role.

Main responsibilities for the South of France based Principal Mechanical Design Engineer:
- Work on the design (CAD/FEM) for high precision assemblies
- Perform thermal/thermos-mechanical analysis for high precision optomechanical assemblies
- Define, build, and test designs from 3D printed engineering units to flight hardware
- Support the fabrication assembly and testing of our flight build
- Design for manufacturing: set up pre-assembly quality checks/metrology mechanical assembly fixtures and assembly-level test plans

Key skills and experience required for this Principal Mechanical Design Engineer:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Over 10 years of experience in Mechanical Design experience and Thermal Engineering
- Experience of mechanical design within the Space environment is desirable
- Proficient in using 3D CAD software modelling tools.
- Experience in design for optical or laser systems
- Experience of taking design from initial conception, through to prototype in a clean room for small volume production
