Embedded Software Engineer (Graduate)

Salary up to £40k (DOE)

Monday to Friday

The Embedded Engineer role is a hands-on design position within a multidisciplinary team developing embedded software and systems.

Primarily working on electro-mechanical medical product designs the embedded engineer Produce C and Assembler code for STM32, ATMega and PIC Microcontrollers to UK, EU and US medical standards.  

 

Key Responsibilities

- Produce, program and test C and Assembler code for STM32, ATMega and PIC Microcontrollers;

- Carry out release tests for new firmware and associated hardware;

- Debug and troubleshoot firmware and circuit issues;

- Generating the software architecture and communication protocols for microcontrollers and associated hardware;

- Write technical documentation and compile technical files;

- Integration design with other products;

- Maintain an appropriate working knowledge of medical standards including but not limited to IEC 60601-1; ISO 14971; IEC 62366; ISO 62304; ISO 13485 & FDA guidelines CFR 21;

- Test prototypes and analyse data;

 

The Right Person

 

The successful Embedded Software Engineer will have experience in the following areas:

- Degree in Electronics/Computer Science or other relevant discipline;

- Proficient in C with at least two years industry experience;

- Experience with Microcontroller software and circuit design;

- Experience of unit testing and writing well-structured code;

- Analytical approach to fault finding;

- Serial interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART etc.);

- Version control (Git & SVN);

- Familiarity with MCU's and Single-Board Computers;

- RTOS experience would be an advantage but not mandatory;

- Analog and digital Electronics design;

- Schematic and PCB Design using CADStar;
