Location: Canterbury – remote and field based
Salary: Up to £35,000 p.a. plus bonus scheme
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00 (flexibility required for site travel and occasional overnight stays)

Exciting opportunity for a Field Service Engineer to support the delivery and upkeep of high-performance train driving simulatorsHome-based position involving travel to sites across the South of England to client sites with occasional international visits (Ireland and France)Key focus on fault-finding, maintenance, and repair of rail simulator systems in both planned and reactive settingsIdeal for candidates with strong IT and electronics engineering experience within the rail, defence, or simulator industriesKey Responsibilities
Diagnose faults and carry out repair work on advanced train simulators using schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering inputUndertake regular planned maintenance and unscheduled interventions to ensure simulator uptimeSupport and maintain Windows-based systems, including hardware upgrades and operating system troubleshootingInstall and replace hardware components including motherboards, GPUs, memory and SSDsTroubleshoot audio, video, power and network cabling issues within simulator environmentsProvide remote and on-site IT support to internal users as part of a wider engineering and tech support teamMaintain accurate documentation and status reports for each simulator siteAttend international simulator engineering conferences and engage in continuous learningEssential Skills & Experience
Strong background in IT support, electronics fault-finding, and complex system troubleshootingIn-depth understanding of Windows operating systems, hardware installation and maintenanceHands-on experience in computer networking, including IP addressing, static/dynamic setups, and subnet configurationsAbility to interpret and act on detailed wiring and schematic diagramsSkilled in practical repair work, with confidence in DIY-style tasks for mounting and assembling simulator equipmentExcellent time management and ability to work independently while meeting deadlinesClear communicator with strong documentation skills and a proactive approachAdditional Requirements
Comfortable working alone on client sites, with a high standard of personal safety and professionalismWilling to travel extensively across the South of England via train; occasional driving required with mileage reimbursedMust be eligible for CTC security clearance and compliant with random drugs and alcohol testing policiesEasy access to a train station is advantageous for travel efficiencyFull UK driving licenceWestin Par values diversity and promotes equality.
