Materials Coordinator

Job Purpose: As a Materials Coordinator within the One Material Management (OMM) framework, your primary responsibility is to serve as the on-site principal, ensuring seamless coordination of all material availability at the right time and minimum cost.

Your role is crucial in supporting production, controlling costs, and maintaining efficient logistics.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Production, Production Control, and Central Material Management to ensure on-time completion of events with a focus on minimizing logistics costs.
Challenge, screen, and support Central Purchasing Unit in material requests, exploring local alternative options in coordination with Production and Engineering.
Develop market knowledge and contacts for new products and services, seeking opportunities to establish partnerships with suppliers to reduce costs and lead times.
Coordinate with Production, Sales, and Central Management to ensure approved alternates are used within contractual agreements.
Maximize inventory usage and minimize levels through collaboration with Production and Central Material Management teams.
Review requisitions for completeness and liaise with Production and Logistics teams to identify time-critical items.
Support Central Material Management in contract negotiations to secure materials at optimal costs.
Coordinate subcontracting of parts related to Material Management, including raising Subcontract POs.
Liaise with the Logistics Team and provide status updates as necessary.
Support Compliance teams on regulatory Material reporting parameters.
Perform direct and ad-hoc purchasing in accordance with OMM and company policies.
Perform technical tasks assigned by the manager.

Working Conditions:

Flexibility required based on workload during project phases.
Availability for urgent production or customer requests, including Aircraft-On-Ground (AOG) situations outside standard working hours.

Physical Requirements:

Largely office-based with occasional manual handling (e.g., shipping, packaging, and unpacking).

Education and Qualifications:

Technical/Aviation background, preferably with a university degree.
Minimum 3 years of professional experience in aircraft maintenance and overhaul.
Good knowledge of logistics processes (planning, purchasing, warehouse, transport).
Excellent communication skills and team spirit.
Computer literate, preferably with SAP knowledge.
Fluent in English (both written and spoken).

Experience and Knowledge:

Strong analytical skills.
Good commercial experience and sound financial awareness.
Project management experience.
Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel.

Excellent administrative skills and attention to detail.
Willingness to work according to checklists and provide status reports.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work environments, and management styles.
Ability to develop and apply creative and innovative solutions to problems.
