Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship

Responsibility for others: The post has some impact on the well-being of individuals or groups (ie physical, mental, social, health and safety).

Responsibility for staff: The post supervises, checks work, instructs or trains a small number of staff.

Responsibility for physical resources: The post has considerable responsibility for cleaning, maintenance and repair of a range of equipment or buildings and / or responsibility for security of buildings.

Security:

Open/close premises; carry out routine and emergency security procedures Prevent trespassing and unauthorised parking Act as keyholder; respond to alarm call-outs and out-of-hours emergencies

Cleaning:

Perform cleaning tasks and supervise cleaning staff Conduct inspections, maintain logs, order supplies, and manage related admin Ensure floors are stripped and retreated periodically

Maintenance:

Perform minor repairs; report major issues and direct contractors Operate heating systems and manage frost/fire/flood precautions Maintain paths, drains, equipment, and undertake occasional gardening and painting Provide emergency access in adverse weather conditions

Stock:

Receive delivery of stock, materials etc, ensuring appropriate storage Ensure adequate supply of fuel, light bulbs and janitorial materials are available, placing orders as necessary

Lettings: 

Prepare for after-school activities and ensure accommodation is prepared for normal school use Undertake school lettings in accordance with the lettings procedures 

Other:

Move equipment and resources as required Set up goal posts / sport areas as necessary Check fire alarm systems Assist Head teacher (or nominated representative) in undertaking risk assessments To develop knowledge and skills in swimming pool maintenance

Training:

Day release at the Taunton Campus.



Training Outcome:
Further training opportunities e.g. mandatory safeguarding training or pool management and maintenance course. Opportunity for paid overtime or time in lieu through lettings by arrangement with the Headteacher. Working as part of an established team, with support from experienced caretaker. Opportunity to apply for the role on a permanent basis for the right candidate.

Working Hours :
Monday to Friday; 30 hours per week; Split shifts may be required – flexible subject to business needs. Possibility of overtime or hours in lieu.
