Mechanical Engineering Degree Apprentice

Being involved with the engineering & quality team to bring projects from initial idea to market, to improve existing products and to solve problems. Carrying out project research. This will involve researching into the market, i.e. competitor products, patents, mechanical and electrical technologies that can be used in our product development etc. Documenting the project. Creating specifications etc. in line with the company’s New Product Development Process. Designing components and products using SolidWorks, designing for manufacture. Carrying out investigations and root cause analysis both mechanical and electrical. Mechanical and electrical testing of products. Report writing. Keeping up to date with regulations and the industry. Understanding this and communicating this to the rest of the business where necessary. Wind tunnel testing. Involved in the company's ISO 9001 and 14001 systems. Maintaining the system, carrying out audits etc.

Training:

You will complete your training on campus at our University Of Hertfordshire - College Lane Campus, SPECTRA Building, Hatfield AL10 9UW.

Mainly separated from undergraduate students, but some study alongside full-time students in some modules​.

Day release delivery with two block release weeks every semester.

Teaching over Semesters A and B, with online touchpoints in C.
