Carpentry Apprentice

As an apprentice, you will assist the Repairs team with repairing and maintaining our customers’ homes, communal spaces and garages.

You will work alongside qualified carpenters, learning on the job and completing work to a high standard and in-line with best practice. Think hanging doors, fitting kitchen units and worktops, building studwork and installing fixtures whilst maintaining the upkeep of your stock and tools.

You will work with one of our fully qualified carpenters four days a week on site, and one day attending college in Weston.

Daily duties include:

To complete the required personal, academic and practical training requirements of the apprenticeship* Learning and assisting to complete high-quality repair works and maintenance, attending appointments as arranged. This can include: hanging doors, fitting kitchen units and worktops, building studwork and installing fixtures and fittings such as handles, locks and hinges Making sure we meet all statutory, regulatory, and contractual obligations Use of your allocated mobile device and tablet Upkeep of your stock, plant and tools and allocated vehicle (if applicable) Attending and participating in Alliance Homes training and monthly meetings Responsible for the use and maintenance of materials and tools* Work safely and be aware of key health, safety and welfare issues Any other duties as reasonably requested by your manager

Training:
You will be pursuing a Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard in Carpentry and Joinery, through Weston College As part of this programme, you will attend Weston College once a week, for workshops An assessor will conduct on-site observations to evaluate your progress, as well as supporting you in college throughout your apprenticeship At the conclusion of your programme, your qualification will be assessed through an Apprenticeship Assessment

Training Outcome:

Working towards or willing to work towards the relevant qualification such as a Level 3 NVQ in Carpentry.

Working Hours :
Monday to Friday, 8.00am - 4:45pm, with an earlier finish on a Friday.
