The Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with ASD within a specific age-phase department.
Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks to ensure their educational and personal development.
Responsibilities:
* Contribute to the day-to-day curriculum delivery and effectively prepare and plan lessons according to the schools assessment systems.
* Teaching and Managing Pupil Learning and Care.
* Collaborate with teachers to support students in achieving their set targets.
* Assist in planning and delivering educational and work-related experiences.
* Share responsibility for the students physical care.
* Contribute to continuous needs assessment and progress monitoring in alignment with the schools assessment systems.
* Act as a Link Worker for designated students and maintain regular communication with parents and carers.
* Take charge of your professional development through in-house and external training.
* Promote best practices in classroom organisation and curriculum delivery.
* Guide and support new or inexperienced staff and volunteers.
* Ensure the classroom environment is well-maintained with an emphasis on displays and presentation of students work.
* Effectively manage delegated resources and contribute to a safe working environment.
* Contribute to the ongoing development of the service by suggesting improvements.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working as a learning support assistant or in a similar role.
* GCSE grade A-C (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
* Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support in Teaching & Learning or equivalent (or willingness to commence training within 4 months of employment).
* Familiarity with special educational needs (SEN), especially ASD.
* Understanding of child protection and safeguarding.
* Awareness of anti-discrimination, disability rights, and equal opportunities practices.
* Proficiency in key aspects of Health and Safety at work.
* Adherence to instructions and policy guidelines.
Desirable:
* A clean current driving licence.
* Previous experience working with children and young people, particularly those with special educational needs
