Principle Flood Risk/ Hydrologist Consultant

We are seeking a highly motivated Flood Risk and Hydrology Consultant, at Principal level, to work as part of our water team.

It is expected that you will have a wide range of experience and a deep understanding of flood risk and hydrology.

You will be a leader with demonstratable commercial awareness and business development skills, as part of this role will require you to seek new opportunities/clients for both the water team and our wider business.

You will be degree qualified in a relevant discipline and be chartered with CIWEM or another relevant professional body.
Responsibilities:

Reporting to the technical team leader.
Working reliably as part of a technical team to provide high quality service offer to our diverse client base.
Leading the provision of technical flood risk/water related work stages and projects with assistance from other members of the team as required.
Leading the development of design solutions and training others to do so.
Demonstrating leadership in providing high quality service offer to our clients.
Acting as Project Manager on multi-disciplinary projects, and training less experienced team members in Project Management skills.
Demonstrating a track record of sound project financial management.
Demonstrating a history and continuity of consistently high levels of client care.
Demonstrating good communication skills internally with project teams and externally to clients.
Assisting in the provision of Expert Witness documentation.
Acting as line manager to a small number of team members.
Reliably providing required input to activities in the wider business.
Demonstrating sound commercial awareness and a track record of winning repeat work.
Demonstrating an ability to win work from new clients or identifying opportunities to apply a strong commercial awareness to part of the wider business.

Requirements:

Relevant degree (BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng etc.) or equivalent.
Chartered Membership with CIWEM or another relevant professional body.
Working knowledge of industry standards appropriate to team discipline.
Computer literate to intermediate level with Microsoft Office Suite and relevant technical software.
The ability to take full responsibility for successfully delivering elements of project work utilising effective team working skills.
Good oral and written communication skills, with an ability to adapt your writing to our requirements.

This includes the production of presentations, reports, letters, and marketing material for both internal and external use.
Ability to communicate instructions clearly to other team members.
A sound understanding of project financial management.

Desirable criteria:

Experience in drainage design (using Micro Drainage/Flow).
Ability to use GIS and CAD packages.
Experience in 1D and 2D flood modelling with TUFLOW and Flood Modeller Pro.
Knowledge of social and digital media channels with a view to using these to promote not only your work but also the business.
Experience working across a variety of sectors including residential, commercial, defence, energy, leisure, etc.
