Support and Accommodation Officer – Neath (Temp Vacancy) Pay Rate: £13.61ph Full-Time (37 hours)Job Purpose:• To provide all households that present in housing need and are placed in interim accommodation with appropriate, accurate and timely support, advice information and assistance; and take reasonable steps to help those homeless households secure suitable alternative accommodation. Accountabilities:
Be responsible for carrying out statutory investigations related to statutory homeless applications having regard to relevant legislation, Code of Guidance and identified good practice;Issue statutory decisions and notification lettersSecure appropriate temporary supported accommodation and permanent accommodation for qualifying households;Carry out support needs assessments, risk assessments and develop Personal Housing Plans in line with identified need;To carry out actions as identified in the Personal Housing Plans and co-ordinate and deliver appropriate packages of support;Maintain accurate records of interviews and cases presented;To assist and advise service users on relevant benefit claims.To provide Personal Budgeting Support and Digital Support to any service users affected by the implementation of Universal CreditUndertake appropriate Risk Assessments for all service users placed in interim accommodation, review at regular intervals and ensure appropriate risk management strategies are in place for each service user to ensure compliance with all Corporate and Directorate Health and Safety Policies;To maintain a high standard of accommodation provision and to report any incident materially affecting this standard to a senior officer.To participate in regular fire drills and ensuring all residents are familiar with evacuation procedures in the event of a fire.Participate in supervision and appraisal sessions and to undertake personal development and training as identified;Work within policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the Supporting People Programme Grant regulatory framework, including timely recording of outcomesGain expert knowledge of the role of housing providers, tenancy support and advice agencies within the area and their contribution to the prevention of homelessness and to refer clients appropriately to identified agencies for support, advice or practical assistanceEstablish effective liaison with other agencies in both statutory and voluntary sector to best meet the needs of service users;Represent the service on identified groups and forums;Participate in the Housing Options out-of-hours rota to include weekends and bank holidays
