About us:

Operating from our administrative office in Barnwood Gloucester, our colleagues deliver our services across the county, within the community.

We are also dependent on the support we get from a dedicated group of volunteers, without who we would be unable to provide the level of service we do.

The Role:

The purpose of the HelpTeam is to provide a welcoming place to turn for older people (and those supporting them) to resolve issues related to later life.



Our HelpTeam - accessible by phone, email, in local community spaces and sometimes making home visits - is a first point of contact for many older people seeking to resolve a problem.

HelpTeam Advisors offer people time to talk, listen actively to their situation, and use a guided conversation model to help uncover the full situation someone is dealing with.



Principle Tasks

Responding to enquiries from the public via phone, email, at outreach settings in the community and occasional home visits, providing:

An actively listening ear:

? Giving people time and space to tell their story and raise their issue
? Offering emotional support, understanding and reassurance that the person is not alone.
? Listening for cues that provide further detail on the presenting situation and other potential issues (e.g., an enquiry about a benefit entitlement might indicate live issues with poverty and lack of food/warmth)
? Exploring what matters to the person and what outcome they are looking to achieve.
