UK Business Development Manager

I am working closely with my UK client, a leading designer and manufacturer of specialist solutions for hazardous area electrical equipment protection serving a global client base across a range of industries, to find an experienced Business Development Manager to join their EMEA Sales Team to cover the UK.
This is an exciting time to be joining them as they are continuing to expand their core product ranges, integrating technological developments, responding to an ever-evolving regulatory environment, and the development of bespoke solutions to meet specific customer needs.
This is a newly defined role to focus on providing UK customers with consultancy-style sales solutions by understanding their requirements, suggesting a range of options for them to consider (this will likely be a mix of existing product offerings, re-certification, modification to existing equipment, and possibly new product development), and then work with them to take the most appropriate approach.
The successful candidate will be picking up a fully-populated pipeline and very warm desk of inbound enquiries, so no cold calling or door knocking required! Due to their reputation in the industry and successful track record with current and previous customers, the company is in the enviable position of being able to be selective about which projects they chose to take on and which to turn away.
You will play an important role in exploring opportunities to help move them into new markets and emerging sectors, helping to evolve their portfolio of clients.

You will have the support of the company’s dedicated marketing machine for attracting new customers in the sectors they are looking to target more (i.e.

renewable energy, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, and hydrogen) and you will be providing input into this.
Reporting to the EMEA Territory Manager, your time will be split between remote working, visiting customer sites to understand their requirements, and working closely with the Territory Manager as this role will be covering many of the customers that they used to manage.
Applicants should have customer-facing experiences as you will be managing relationships between internal and external stakeholders.

You should also have a strong commercial sense and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple enquiries and projects in progress simultaneously.
Previous experience of hazardous environments (i.e.

ATEX, COMAH, etc) within industries such as nuclear, oil & gas chemicals, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, etc.

is preferred but not essential – this could be as a service engineer, proposals engineer, or having worked on engineering products and projects used in these settings.
Applications are invited from a diverse range of roles such as Business Development Manager, External Sales Engineer, Applications Engineer, Technical Sales Engineers and Proposal Engineers; as well as Design Engineers, Project Engineers and Service Engineers with customer-facing experience who are interested in progressing into sales.
In return they are willing to pay an attractive salary for the right candidate which will be negotiable based on experience, car, allowances and expenses, and benefits package.

In addition, you will be given a detailed personalised induction (all expenses paid for this) and personal development plan.

The company will be able to offer career progression within the company in the future.

When applying for this role, please indicate your current salary (plus benefits package), minimum salary required, notice period and your reasons for wishing to move from your current company.
