Apprentice Engineer
With guidance and supervision from more senior staff within the team, typical duties of the apprentice will include the following:
Producing civil & structural engineering drawings and 3D models using Autocad & Revit Reviewing and marking up design drawings for the CAD/Revit technicians and checking for quality Performing basic structural engineering hand calculations for load takedown, element sizing and lateral stability of structures Undertaking finite element analysis of structures using computer software such as Tekla Structural Designer & Robot Structural Analysis Participating in site surveys to record existing buildings and site visits required to monitor construction Assisting with report writing such as Flood Risk Assessments, Sustainable Drainage Strategies and Structural Design Reports, for example Assisting with the administration of projects including issuing drawings and other design documents, filing and processing incoming information, writing fee proposals and monitoring project expenditure Progression of Student Membership to the Institution of Civil Engineers and/or Institution of Structural EngineersTraining:
BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering Taught via day release model. Apprentices are required to attend ARU's Chelmsford campus one day per week during term time
Training Outcome:
Fully qualified Civil Engineer.
