Planning & Development Team Leader

About YouAre you a chartered Town Planner with significant experience of working as a Case Officer in a Local Planning Authority?  Are you a confident and effective leader with line management experience? Do you understand the important role that statutory consultees play in the planning process?   Do you want to join a small friendly and high performing Planning team providing advice and guidance to Local Planning Authorities and others in the development industry on land stability issues arising from past coal mining activity?   If so, read on….You will be a chartered town planner with substantial post qualification experience in an LPA development management role, including experience of dealing with a case load of major applications. You will have experience of effective line management responsibility.You will have detailed knowledge and understanding of the policy, legislation and the principles of the overall planning system including the variations between the systems in England, Scotland and Wales. You will be an excellent communicator, able to deal with people confidently, persuasively and with sensitivity, with the ability to stay calm and focused under pressure. We don’t expect candidates to meet every single desired qualification.

If your experience looks a little different from what we've identified and you think you can bring value to the role, we'd love to learn more about you!About The RoleYou will deliver the Coal Authority’s advice to Local Planning Authorities including assessing incoming consultation requests and associated supporting information, considering the Authority’s data, liaising with technical specialists where necessary, and responding appropriately and in a timely manner verbally, in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.As Team Leader you will provide direction and guidance to the Planning team responsible for responding to planning consultations. You will support the Principle Manager in the day-to-day management of the planning consultation responding process including identification and resolution of issues, performance monitoring and staff training. You will assist the Principle Manager, as necessary, in liaising with external stakeholders and Government bodies, including reviewing consultation requests and related documents and preparing responses as appropriate.Role location: Mansfield  - hybrid working activity office based For more information about the role please refer to the attached job description.Schedule:Application closing date: 11th July 2023Sifting date: 12th July 2023 Interviews: w/c 17th July 2023 (If you are unavailable on these interview dates, please make us aware and we will look at alternative dates)Security:Successful candidates must pass basic security checks and will be subject to UK Immigration requirements.About The Coal AuthorityOur benefits:
