Paralegal Apprentice (Stobbs (IP) Limited)

Working at one of the leading brand advisory firms in this field and working for household and world-famous brands, this Paralegal will be involved in trademark and brand protection projects.

You will be exposed to first hand and world leading trademark practice and learn the fundamental knowledge and skills about brands and brand protection.

You will be working for household brands to manage their trademark portfolios and IP rights, ensuring the internal records are up to date.

You will need to be liaising with customs officers and law enforcement officers around the globe (mainly UK and EU). You will be asked to review images and confirm whether the pictured goods are counterfeit.

You will be attending UK law enforcement raids across the country (mainly around Manchester, Birmingham, and Leicester) on behalf of Stobbs’ household clients and providing on-site your assistance.

You will also be preparing legal documents, such as trademark application forms, witness statements, Cease and Desist Letters and criminal complaints.

You will be exposed directly to your clients, who are world famous brands. You will have direct access to their brand stories and confidential information.

You can expect direct client contact in this role, as well as be in full charge of communications with customs officers and law enforcement officers such as Trading Standards officers.

You will be collecting and analysing data. This may require you to undertake additional high-level desktop investigations.

You will need to communicate your findings clearly and concisely.

Sometimes you will be responsible for delivering trainings to UK law enforcement officers and Border Force officers, using your knowledge gained through this job.

You will be exposed to wider brand protection work, including litigations.

You will be working within a small team at Stobbs. You will be assigned a supervisor with whom you will have regular contact.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:

Working with trademark attorneys and solicitors to prepare evidence and legal documents Working with legal practitioners to prepare legal documents, such as UKIPO forms and client reports. Liaising with UK law enforcement officers (such as Trading Standards and police officers) to obtain the relevant data as your supervisor may request from time to time. Attending law enforcement raids across the UK and providing assistance on site Conducting training and education sessions for UK law enforcement officers and Border Force officers. Identifying data from various sources and accurately recording data Confidently using technology tools and Excel sheets Independently analysing the data Ability to communicate your ideas, findings, and conclusions confidently

Training Outcome:

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be opportunities to progress into a permanent role within the Brand Protection team or other related areas of the business, such as legal, marketing, or compliance.
